His ERA in the first got worse with a sweet 27.00 tonight. But it didn't matter much because the Yankees had one hit. That's a sad, boring team right now. It's a joy to watch.Luis Severino has a 13.85 ERA in the 1st inning,.
Atlanta has a +57 run differential in the 1st inning.
This should be fun.
Dummy.And Salvy ties it!
But someone named Dairon Blanco just kinda jogs into third on the play instead of, you know, running and sliding, and gets himself thrown out to go to extras.
The Royals are more fun than their record indicates. I still get cable, which means I get Cardinals, Royals, and Rangers games for free. The Rangers have been interesting (they're winning!) but I'd rather watch the Royals any day than the Cardinals. And Salvy ties it!
Those two teams have played some insane games this year. There was last night and I thought the KC announcers said that KC had come back from an 11-2 deficit in an earlier meeting. And Salvy ties it!

He was last night's walk-off squeezer. But yeah another wild game. M's rookie Emerson Hancock was cruising through 4, then got into a jam in the 5th, almost worked out of it with minimal damage but gave up a grand slam to Bobby Witt Jr.But someone named Dairon Blanco just kinda jogs into third on the play instead of, you know, running and sliding, and gets himself thrown out to go to extras.
As much as it often seems like they have an endless supply of them, their pitchers seem to be dropping like flies.
They’ve already turned around Littell, I expect Faria and Lamet to have big roles for them down the stretch as well.As much as it often seems like they have an endless supply of them, their pitchers seem to be dropping like flies.
Wouldn't be surprising. As they did with Springs .... who is now a TJS after his 2 seasons of Flowers for Algernon pitching. Coincidentally, a returned-to-Earth Jalen Beeks was optioned so that they could return Littell from the IL.They’ve already turned around Littell, I expect Faria and Lamet to have big roles for them down the stretch as well.
The Padres are 6-19 in 1 run games and 0-10 in extra innings.Tale of two teams with +61 run differentials (who happen to be playing each other now):
Orioles 74-46
Padres 57-63
I mean, over/underperforming your Pythag is not news, but 17 games???
Only scoring in two of the extra innings games will do that to you. Esp with the Manfred Man.The Padres are 6-19 in 1 run games and 0-10 in extra innings.
Better arm than the two Cruzes?Masyn Winn called up for the Cardinals. If you haven't had a chance to see him play yet, you should try to set aside some of your weekend. Solid 5 tool player, who might end up with the best SS arm in the game when all is said and done.
It'll be close.Better arm than the two Cruzes?
John Olerud and Ryan Zimmerman both debuted the same year they were drafted, so I assume there's something about that 40 day qualifier. Zimmerman hit really well for a rebuilding Nats team that finished .500 (which was still last in the NL East that year). Olerud didn't even play in the minors, but here's what is kind of wild about it to me is that the Blue Jays were in the middle of a competitive stretch. Pretty bold to just hand him a full-time job, and then they traded away Fred McGriff on top of it!The Angels are calling up first base prospect Nolan Schanuel, their 2023 first round pick. He has played in just 21 minor league games.

Another tweet from that thread "The last US-born player to debut within 40 days of being drafted: Texas pitcher Jerry Don Gleaton in 1979. The last position player: Toronto catcher Brian Milner in 1978."
MLB Pipeline has had him rated as the best arm in the top 100 the last 2 years.Better arm than the two Cruzes?
Chris Sale, too.John Olerud and Ryan Zimmerman both debuted the same year they were drafted, so I assume there's something about that 40 day qualifier. Angels have had some pretty aggressive promotions. They drafted Zach Neto last year, hit well in AA (.320/.382/.492) and skipped AAA to play in the majors this year. Logan O'Hoppe skipped AAA to play in the majors (he hit .283/.416/.544 across both AA leagues). He's played 2 games in AAA as part of his rehab assignment. Bachman skipped AA to pitch in the majors, though he's currently on the 60-day IL.Chris Sale, too.
In 2010 after 4 games in A+ & 7 in AAA, he was called up to the White Sox & pitched 23.1 innings over 21 games with a 1.93 ERA. 32 strikeouts.

There's 18 MLB games tomorrow. The Dodgers, Angels and Padres games on Sunday all got moved to split doubleheaders on Saturday because of the hurricane.
The big piece in their deal for Giolito and Lopez was a catcher in AA they'd skipped straight to that level from low A; he turned 20 on AA opening day. The Angels have taken over from the White Sox as the most aggressive team in the league in promoting their prospects. The results were a mixed bag for the White Sox, we'll see how it goes with the Angels, but they're also being a bit more deliberate in targeting advanced guys and promoting guys with advanced skill sets (even Quero had a very developed plate approach, so it's entirely possible he got better development behind the plate in AA than he would've in High A).Angels have had some pretty aggressive promotions. They drafted Zach Neto last year, hit well in AA (.320/.382/.492) and skipped AAA to play in the majors this year. This is an understatement, right now there are 5 players in MLB from the 2022 and 2023 drafts, and 4 of them are Angels.Angels have had some pretty aggressive promotions.
He and Bobby Witt, this year and last year, are also the only players EVER to go 20-20 in their first two seasons."at 22 years & 232 days old, Julio Rodríguez is the 2nd-youngest player with 12 hits in a 3-game span since 1901, behind only: 1937 Buddy Lewis: 20 y, 351 d as of 3rd game"-Sarah Langs
Some people were saying Alonso threw it to Winn's family, but that does not seem to be true. Serious unnecessary dick move otherwise.Masyn Winn collects his first career hit in the MLB, Pete Alonso promptly takes the ball and chucks into the crowd. Cardinals dugout was pretty pissed. Can't tell if Alonso realized the situation or not, but his next at bat might be interesting.
Within 40 days of being drafted is doing a bit of work here. For example, Pete Incaviglia was drafted in June 1985. He signed in Nov 1985 and debuted at the beginning of 1986 having never played a minor league game. The Angels are calling up first base prospect Nolan Schanuel, their 2023 first round pick. He has played in just 21 minor league games.

Which is real "yeah, but" statistic because of the huge volume of players whose "first season" is a September cup of coffee. He and Bobby Witt, this year and last year, are also the only players EVER to go 20-20 in their first two seasons.
Fair, but still, another 4 for 5 night tonight for Julio with a HR and 2 more steals.Which is real "yeah, but" statistic because of the huge volume of players whose "first season" is a September cup of coffee.
