What was Dave Roberts thinking pulling Rich Hill with a runner on 1st, 1 out and two lefty’s coming up (Holt and Bradley). Roberts mismanaged that whole game. Thanks, Dave!

all of the Sox's good arms were spent from less than 24 hours ago, forcing Cora's hand some in keeping ERod in

he also had the luxury of being able to lose the game and still being in an OK spot. it's also much harder to manage when the Sox went into a prolonged slump all road trip until that 7th inning

These intrasquad games are at Fenway, so why isn't NESN broadcasting them? Even if they didn't even bother with announcers, just that periscope feed, it'd be way more interesting than typical NESN afternoon programming.

It'd just be nice to see the Red Sox playing some spring training style baseball on TV.

Yeah, the Yankees had a bullpen catcher umpiring theirs the last few days, they seemed to do a pretty good job.

Uh oh. Eovaldi walked JBJ. Not that easy to do.
I actually like hearing the sound of the ball in the glove. I'm easily pleased.

The owners really need to fire Manfred and hire one of the lieutenants in Silver's NBA army.
This isn't even a Manfred thing as far as I can tell. The Red Sox are streaming this on their own youtube channel. They own (80% of) NESN. NESN has two channels on most New England cable lineups (NESN and NESN+) that could be carrying the same stream as Youtube instead of <checking listings> Explore New England or Bruins vs Penguins from 2005.

Two cable outlets and they couldn't put this feed on one of them? Oh well, guess Youtube is better than FB Live.

If they're showing it online, then perhaps it is an incompetent Manfred/MLB thing of them not being allowed to televise it. I wouldn't put it past him, Manfred is terrible.

I love this. It's so easy to get YouTube on the TV via Roku and the quality is acceptable. Are they playing phony cloud noises the way the old sitcoms played laughter? What a hoot.

Piped in noise?

Horrible.
Believe it or not, it's for the players' benefit and they're talking about doing it league-wide during games. Some players have already said it's unnerving playing in the empty park. It's a reason they blast music over the PA during batting practice.

Also, voices really carry in the ballpark. I saw tweets from reporters covering workouts saying they could hear casual conversations between players in the outfield clear as can be while sitting in the press box. It's been suggested that the piped-in noise could be a measure to keep tempers in check because players would likely hear everything being said in the opposing dugout and vice versa, including taunts and snide remarks that might otherwise go unheard.

JD hit a bomb and I was terrified that Raffy had hurt himself oversliding third but he was OK and it was just good to watch Red Sox baseball again.

The Yankees televised spring workouts on YES the other night so it's not an MLB thing.

Is he fat (Raffy)? I read they had a mini-fat camp with a coach for him.
That wasn't a "mini-fat camp". He was working out at BC separate from the team because he had contact with a COVID positive person and was waiting on the results of his test. Once it came back negative, he joined the team at Fenway.

That was an absolutely embarrassing thing - which, of course, the television types were all behind, and it was embarrassing for them as well.
This is fun at a distance. It was absurd and annoying at the time. What's odd is this Marlins team being headed to a WS championship. Their pitching and defense stank in this game.

Grady Little apologized to Jack McKeon after this game. Fun.
Was that the 26-4 game or whatever, where they knocked out pavano and another pitcher before they ever got an out? I was at that game, fun times, only time I got to see a game from the monster seats because so many people left early that they were just letting non monster ticket holders go up there.

I just watched the game on DVR. I don’t know what McKeon was so upset with. I guess Todd Walker scoring on a sac fly in the 7th was bad in his eyes. Screw Grady for apologizing.

McKeon should have been the one to apologize for throwing at Ortiz because he was mad that his team couldn't get anyone out that night

And, the Marlins themselves had a game where they scored a whole bunch of runs like a week later, which shows that you never stop trying to score because the other team is capable of it as well.

EDIT: 20-1 against Atlanta 4 days later.
