Theres been plenty of talk in the aftermath of Monday nights legal illegal bat that the Competition Committee will once again consider changes to the replay review rules. But its the owners who determine the changes to the rules, and its the owners who were buzzing in the aftermath of the Seattle win over Detroit about the importance of having a system in place for catching clear errors.

The coincidentally-timed ownership meetings, which started the day after the Monday night game, included plenty of discussion regarding two devices for eliminating obvious mistakes.

First, momentum is building for Patriots coach Bill Belichicks suggestion that coaches should be permitted to challenge anything and everything. While certain clear judgment calls (like pass interference and holding) would be exempt, giving coaches broad power to throw the red flag would help ensure that blunders would be rectified.

Why wouldn't you also just empower the replay official to buzz the referee whenever he damn well pleases, while they're at it?

Will you be able to challenge a horsecollar tackle call? I have seen more than one of those flags this season where the defender did not grab the player by the shirt collar or side of helmet. But in fairness to the officials on the field, it is very hard to see with the action happening so fast.

Nope.

By everything, they actually mean everything except the thing that's been bugging you that you want to talk about.
