Jeter didn't just fly. He soared like a majestic bird who flies as close to the brilliant sun as anyone can without being burned. Instead, Nomar was scorched and he would never again be the same.Heise3B said:He stated the game July 1st ,2004 at Yankee Stadium when Jeter flew into the stands and Nomar sat on the bench.

Why didn't Jeter catch him?

in a game made famous by Derek Jeter's dive into the stands to catch a foul ball.

Words have meaning, and what they say here doesn't come close to matching the reality. Was the ball he caught even in foul territory?
More accurately it would read "Jeter catching a fair ball and then running and diving into the crowd".

The dead ones get +2 classy points so yes, ESPECIALLY not them.E5 Yaz said:
Even the dead ones?

cromulence said:Nah dude, not even. I'm not dumb, I expect Yankee ripping round these parts. I just think it's (truly, not being sarcastic) hilarious that you guys even find ways to rip on Jeter for the stuff he's actually good at, like tracking pop-ups and shallow fly balls. He was actually legitimately good at that, all Jeter love aside. I just love the creativity - you guys have stepped it up from "pasta diving Jeter" because honestly that shit was too easy.
That picture is precious.Max Power said:

That is so sad. That a baseball player receives adulation for tracking pop-ups. Where is my life time achievement award for not walking into cars?

I categorically hate intelligent tones!

Really, it was the Pokey Reese mini-sploogefest that pushed me to post. Sox fans have an irrational love for that guy.
Red(s)HawksFan said:
I can't speak for the Pokey love outside of this one particular game, but there's no denying that his catch that night was categorically more difficult and more impressive than Jeter's. No matter their feelings toward the guy, it's perfectly defensible for Sox fans to want to bring him and that catch up every time Jeter's overrated nosedive is referenced, particularly if it is in the context of calling the game the "Jeter dive" game.
Isn't that what we have ARod for?rembrat said:
