Unrelated but best thread for it: Vinovich is the main referee for SB58.

Tom Hill turned 70 this year. The Super Bowl will be his final game. He worked either the Super Bowl or the Conference Championship every single year of his 60s. Very impressive.

One of the few non-Referees that has a direct line to NY on his radio I believe.

EDIT:

Obligatory Tom Hill play where he is the primary covering official:

Note how at the end he just walks off to his next position without a care in the world.

Was he supposed to do some OMGs or something? Actually, you do see refs interacting more with players on TV nowadays, like helping them up or sharing a laugh. Vinovich, I believe, was caught on mike saying super bowl XLIX was "some game" to another ref probably after the Pats second comeback.

Edit: Ed H. or Mystic M, I forget, said recently that Vinovich was the best referee in the business the last few years. Completely agree.

No rain tonight in Santa Clara. In fact, they’re calling for low-mid 70s at kickoff time and it hasn’t rained for a few days, so, perfect field conditions.

I really like both NFC teams, but I don’t know if the Lions can beat the Chiefs, so if the Chiefs win the early game, I’ll probably root for the 49ers. Just Ravens knock off the Chiefs and then hope the night game is great.

Kadarius Toney is also out for KC for personal reasons. Skyy Moore already out, no Thuney. Mahomes is going to have to be flawless to pull this one out.

No Toney is absolutely an advantage for the Chiefs. Toney plays and the line goes to KC +8. :)

Skyy Moore is also fundamentally useless and it doesn't matter if he's out. Kelce, Rice, and the occasional pass to MVS and maybe he won't drop them, like he caught the passes last week. That's enough.

Thuney, on the other hand, is absolutely massive. Mahomes is going to be running a lot. Nobody is better at it. Also, good for him this year that he doesn't have a hurt ankle like last year.

Finally, if Pancheco is banged up or aggravates his injury, that will also be a problem. He's a weapon for KC and CEH isn't the same.

This is reminding me of Brady going to Denver for two AFCCGs in 2013/15 seasons, both 3pm games also. Clearly weaker teams (pretty bad weapons in 2013, OL in a horrible state by that time in 2015) but they found a way to make it to the AFCCG... then got dominated by Denver twice.

Those Denver teams are nothing like this Baltimore team, and of course NE almost forced OT in one of the games. But still feel like the parallel is there.

I'm just reminiscing now, (and not that I can fault Brady after being hit 20 times) but he had Gronk wide open on the 2pt attempt. He was running for his life on that play like all the others, but its too bad Edelman was his first read.

Got a $3/m x3m to come back to Paramount+ offer just now fyi so check your emails if you don’t have CBS (I do but still appreciate their offer) but want to watch the game
They look like in worse shape than NBC/Comcast

I hate betting against Mahomes or Reid but I just feel like KC is going to run in to a brick wall with this Ravens defense. I don't think enough has been made about the substantial injuries both Miami & Buffalo had on the defensive side of the ball. Assuming Baltimore can put up 20 points I think they're going to the Super Bowl.

I got one too. It's smart marketing highlighting the game. I'm sure they'll get a bunch of new subscribers. And many of those will forget to cancel.

I couldn't get that Toney video to play. But just a few posts up ITT it says he's out for personal reasons, and not injury.

I have no idea why my brain decided to swap Toney and Rice in my head when I saw the news.

Toney does have a hip injury, but it sounds like he disagrees about the severity.

Toney also just had a baby. But the Chiefs know for certain they are better off without him. He's just too volatile.

Can someone explain to me why I’m supposed to root for Baltimore over KC? I don’t actually get it, but I’m open to correction.

I know the contract is high, but I’m kind of pissed Pats didn’t beat a second and a fifth for Roquan. A team captain after a year and a half worth the team (or maybe just doing the pregame speech, still a sign of a great leader) is impressive

Mahomes and Kelce breaking Brady and Gronk records

kC already having 3 titles and Reid being a capablehead coach that can win in future

plus Zay Flowers is awesome

it’s fairly close though

I'm just gonna have to see how I lean once the game gets rolling.

I'll probably just be rooting for my dumb parlay to hit.

FWIW (often contrarian), 4 out of 5 pregame guys picked Baltimore, and the lone KC guy, Esiason, might have voted just to not make it unanimous.
I don’t trust any picker who played QB in Cincy and NJ and is now wearing gloves while a guy playing in Houston and Arizona is not. (Same with Simms-NJ)

If the Chiefs surpass the Patriots in some things then it retroactively lowers your enjoyment of that time.

Go Ravens.

After Mahomes bitching and antics after the Toney offside game I can’t root for him. Throwing Tuckers kicking gear before this game just adds to my feeling he’s a whiny ass

I think Baltimore is going to roll. They've been destroying really good teams.

I can’t stop laughing. Trying to root for the Ravens is like trying to levitate; it’s an interesting thought experiment, but kinda hard to sustain with any sort of seriousness.

I have an expired account and just logged in and the game w/o a sub is free.
