He's worth a first at this point. Can we get this Ross guy with a third round comp pick?
He’ll exceed the hype because Clemson will be good, but no one’s going to eclipse Luck in the eyes of NFL scouts. Luck ran a pro-style offense at Stanford for a guy who was coaching in the NFL by the time he was drafted, plus Luck’s dad was a pro QB. He was the closest thing to a cant-miss QB prospect we’ve ever seen. I don’t think it’s possible for a college QB to reach that level of certainty now that just about everyone runs a spread-type system that doesn’t require the QB to make the complex reads that NFL offenses demand. If you thought Luck was a hyped QB prospect, Trevor Lawrence will eclipse him.

The league is trending to more spread type system more and more every year. Lawrence is NFL ready in every sense of the phrase and is not a spread QB. He has prototypical size and can make every throw you want an NFL QB to make. He’ll exceed the hype because Clemson will be good, but no one’s going to eclipse Luck in the eyes of NFL scouts. Trevor Lawrence walked into a bar, and the bartender said, “why the long face?”Trevor Lawrence has got a huge... face.
It was amazing. Lawrence is deservedly getting all the love tonight but Tua is a beast. That's an impressive throw by Tua right there. He was on almost a full dead sprint towards the sideline, and throws a rope 40 yards downfield that hits Jeudy right over the shoulder and in his hands. It's so hard to keep that ball from floating towards the sideline when you're running that hard in that direction.
Peyton wasn’t even the clear-cut #1 pick — remember Ryan Leaf?Moreso than Peyton?
Others here know more than I do about Xs and Os, but my understanding is that NFL coaches have copied some elements of the spread (getting the QB out from under center, lots of 4-5 WR sets, etc.) but are demanding as much as ever from QBs in terms of making complex reads and progressions — which the college spread systems are designed to avoid forcing the QB to do.The league is trending to more spread type system more and more every year. Who?? I thought it was that Peyton was 'can't miss' but wow look at Leaf's 'upside'Peyton wasn’t even the clear-cut #1 pick — remember Ryan Leaf?
Oof that was a bad series.Saban being stubborn trying to run it in against this Clemson front. They're too strong. You either need to trick them, go off tackle, or throw it.
You’re right. Leaf had as much chance getting picked before Peyton as RG III did getting picked before Luck. None.Who?? I thought it was that Peyton was 'can't miss' but wow look at Leaf's 'upside'
