Yale with a nice kill, had the Gophers flustered, closed off lanes & blocked shots & entry passes. Nothing on net.

However, another MN PP here as Colin Dueck goes for holding at 10:12 of the 2nd.

FWIW, the stoppages and TV timeouts are destroying the flow and pace of this game. It also seems far more disruptive to MN in terms of a desirable tempo and putting sustained pressure on the Bulldogs. I doubt fatigue will be a factor in the outcome.

Yale with another successful kill, and now they're on the PP as MIN's Parenteau goes off for interference at 15:05.

Agostino was one of the players the Flames acquired for Iginla.

Will be at the BC-Union game tomorrow evening in Providence with my BC daughter. Looking forward to seeing my alma mater Quinnipiac in the opening game....

End of the 2nd, Yale still up 2-0.

From Mike Eidelbes of Inside College Hockey:

Minnesota is 1-4-1 this season when trailing after 2 periods. 18-0-1 when leading after 2.

Also, MIN allowed the first goal in 7 of its 8 losses and in six of those contests the Gophers trailed by two or more goals

This game is reminding me of Yale's great 3-2 victory over North Dakota in Worcester in 2010.  A heavy underdog, Yale jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two and held off a furious ND comeback when that team realized "Holy shit, we could actually lose to these guys!"  Probably the greatest victory in the history of the Yale program.  Could today top it?

Minnesota playing typical cheap shot Minnesota hockey. Nothing would make me happier than to see them choke away the number one seed here and lose.

Shots on goal are 19-16 Yale. Gophers have won 31 of 44 face-offs (70.5%).

Game is taking fucking forever. 48 minutes of clock time for each 20-minute period of play.

Gophers get on the board with a Nate Schmidt power play goal to make it 2-1 at 8:18 of the 3rd.

Colin Dueck was in the box for Yale on a tripping call at 7:27.

Another interminable break in the action for commercials...

6:30 left in the 3rd. Yale up 23-22 in SOG. Gophers have won 39 of 57 face-offs (68.4%)

Zach Budish ties it for the Gophers, 2-2. A lively scrum in front of the net stemming from heavy MIN pressure.

Play under review for crease violations...

EDIT - And it's good. A clean redirect in off the right post.

6:20 left to play.

Minnesota always has such great talent. I hate that they mar this by playing such chippy hockey all the time. That legacy can be the result of an institutional decision to teach the game that way. I hate it.

I'll be there too.  Always hard to root for the ECAC teams that you're normally rooting against, but I'll be cheering for Quinnippiac.

EspnU just stressed multiple times its not 4 on 4 and there is no shootout in college hockey playoffs. They do know those things don't happen in the NHL playoffs either right?

Lowell goes up 1-0. Pendenza on the wrist shot from the left side of the ice into the right side of the net at 7:11 of the 1st, beating Rumpel's glove side.

I would LOVE to see all the eastern teams win today. The USCHO "live blog" was more like a chat room, chock full o' neanderthal WCHA arrogance and ignorance, crowing about their superior depth & talent and bitching about East Coast bias in the PWR and seeding process. Fucking idiots.

Seeing MIN, UND, WIS and DEN all knocked out before Saturday even begins would be tremendous.

Another UM-L power play, and now an interference penalty on the River Hawks evens things up wih 3:49 left in the 1st. Four-on-Four hockey coming up after yet another commercial break. Even online, ESPN can't stop sucking donkey cock.

UW's Jefferson Dahl was awarded a penalty shot, and CH stonewalls him. Thanks, ESPN, for coming back from commercial just as the skater was approaching the net without viewers having any fucking idea what was happening. Assholes. Downright NESN-esque.

Lowell's power play actually continued after the penalty shot, and U-W killed it off. 1:40 left in the 1st.

Shots are 11-3 Badgers.

Penalty on UM-L, as Folin goes off. He stood up a UW rusher with a stiff hit that may have been high (i.e. in the head/face). Hard to tell with the pixelated ESPN feed. The period ends so the Badgers will have about 1:30 left on the PP when the 2nd starts.

The game is actually on NESN. It was even worse there - they completely missed the penalty shot.

Thanks for the heads-up.

We can put a man on the moon, and hundreds of satellites into orbit, and build cell phone networks that handle millions of calls simultaneously all over the globe. But it's 2013, and online streaming of live sports still absolutely blows.

2nd period underway. Hellebuyck gets tested from the left wing, but makes a huge blocker stop. It spawns a UM-L shorthanded 2-on-1 bid, but Rumpel makes the save. And that ends the Badger PP.

18:20 left.

Score! Christian Folin makes it 2-1 Riverhawks on a beautiful give & go on a rush up center ice at 3:12. Scott Wilson gets the assist from the left wing.

Replay shows it deflected off the crossbar down into the crease and bounced toward Hellebuyck. No goal.
