Volin is such a little weasel and ,a dumb one, a dangerous combination. He knows 40 mins is a lifetime on Twitter and how does he not ask WHERE the heroic act took place or what PD responded ? These are fairly simple facts to get when following up on a story. If he had done that he could have found the publicly available police record response.

At this point, I began receiving messages on Twitter about the TMZ report, and questions wondering if Fleming made the story up. After TMZ had sent out its report to hundreds of thousands of people, that’s when I tweeted, “I'm having same issue as TMZ: Neither Foxboro, Wrentham, Walpole or Mass State police say they have record of car crash described by Fleming.”

I should have been a lot clearer with the tweet, and witnessed yet again the dangers of trying to communicate in 140 characters. But in no way did I think Fleming was making his story up, as TMZ hypothesized. I was simply acknowledging that none of the local authorities seemed to have a record of this incident. Forty minutes later I tweeted, “Not jumping to any conclusions on Fleming story. He described incident in great detail. Told same story to teammates that he told me today." But it was too late. I should have tweeted it sooner.

Talk about a non-apology apology. It's everything's fault but his own. It's Twitter's character-limit at fault! It's the local authorities' fault! It's YOUR fault, dammit, for lacking reading comprehension on my later tweet! An old friend came in from out of town! Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts! IT WASN'T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!

It's gonna be interesting when Twitter lifts its character limit in the near future.. One less crutch for these hack journalists to pin their shortcomings on.

Volin with a long apology:

I would first like to apologize to Darius Fleming, who acted like a true hero last week in helping save that (cont) tl.gd/n_1so79hp
Holy shit! I thought you were making a joke. I even lol'd, but, no, that's a real tweet. Haha

Fleming was brought up right..I like Reiss' description of the events including Darius telling his team mates what happened:

"Guys were like, 'Why didn't you grab a brick?'" Fleming said. "[But] the smoke inside the car started to freak me out, so I can't be like, 'Lady, I'll be right back.' I was kind of like 'get her out of here right now.' That's just what came to my mind."

Hacks like BV who make accusations on the fly based on little or lazy research to get clicks absolutely are the lowest. The easiest way for a sports reporter to get notice or attention is to make an accusation on a Patriots player or the team. How does he look Flemming in the eye and try to interview him now?

With all the negative stories that happen with NFL players off the field, these types should be celebrated. Instead, when the Patriot's go to the Super Bowl, on media day you know some hack(s) will ask Fleming if he really got hurt trying to save a woman in car accident. Disgusting.

edit: typos.. I should never post until my second coffee

His boss made him do it. Dear Lord. Volin's just the worst.

Of course Joe Sullivan, the Globe sports editor and Volin's boss, wanted to see Fleming proved a liar; Sullivan has always had it out for the Pats and always backed douches like Shank when they write insane stuff about the team. Interesting to see that Sullivan was very upset that TMZ had a story out about the crash; you can just hear him thinking "We have to prove Fleming a liar before they do!"

Christ almighty, these people are a disgrace. Volin can't be put at the Eric Wilbur Banned-from-this-Board level yet, but man he's working at getting there.
