Pretty good commentary by Gene there. I can see why they called it. We are asking them to do the impossible.
At what point does the product on the field affect the NFL's popularity? How does a neutral fan find this entertaining in any way?

Yeah, this has been the most disappointing aspect of this year. Situational awareness used to be a strength.
So I’ve been meaning to compile a “real NFL scoring” doc sometime.
Like, just because they award 6 points for a score doesn’t mean the sport actually has a lot of scoring.
Been thinking about comparing sports and count all “scores” (run, goal, TD, made basket, etc) to see what’s really high scoring.

But historically, the draft greatly underperforms the market, so just win baby.
With all respect to @CFB_Rules, there’s zero reason the league shouldn’t make three (and really all) calls reviewable or at least use the guys upstairs in NYC to say “Hey, the shoulder hit first, no penalty.” The league has already broken the seal on asking NYC for real time input – I don’t trust them at all after all the screw jobs we’ve seen over the years but if you’re going to prioritize all these calls, at least improve your chances of getting them right.
