ESPN.com actually has a bunch of posts and tweets about this, how it makes it more real to everyone. I thought they would sweep it under the rug since NFL

/r/nfl defends Hardy because reddit hates women. It's the same story every time any issue comes up. The guy is bad but the woman probably deserved it a little!

Is Skip intimating that the woman Hardy beat the snot out of is a cry baby? Did I read that correctly?

Edit: this is in response of soxhops post. I can't get quotes to work.

@MarkMaske: One source said the Hardy photos "were not accessible to the team" before the Cowboys signed Hardy. Cowboys declined to comment.

I know it would probably cost some reporter his/her job, but I'd really love to see someone ask Jerry Jones if it gets tiring having to debase yourself by defending a piece of shit like Greg Hardy all the time?

That is such a tiresome defense. Putting aside the fact that everyone here is lying, the NFL didn't need to see the videos to know what happened in the elevator with Ray Rice and the Cowboys didn't need to see the pictures to know what happened with Greg Hardy.

No, let's give them the benefit of the doubt and assume the the Cowboys didn't understand the facts of the case. This means they're going to cut him now, right? /s

No, it is indicative that Skip schedules tweets and didn't remove his regularly scheduled trash talk tweet in light of today's news.

Ed Werder did the same thing.

There's a concept in defamation law that basically holds that it's eventually impossible to defame monsters because their reputations are so awful that no matter what you say about them, they can't actually suffer a cognizable injury. I kinda feel that way about the concept of Jerry Jones debasing himself.

Nichole grew up down the street from where I live. I don't know her but family and friends do. If I remember right she went back to dating Nelly after the Greg Hardy fiasco?...? Wealthy family, likes to have a good time but not a shit heel. That's what I've gathered but I never gave enough of a shit to TMZ it.

Yeah, I wasn't really thinking that he/she would lose their job based on a defamation suit. More like a "don't fuck with the Cowboys and cost us access" firing by their station. Of course, if someone had the guts to ask Jerry Jones that question they'd probably get picked up somewhere.

And sf121, that is precisely the video I had in mind when I made that post.

It is the "should I risk my job to ask this question" face.

I think Jenny Vrentas is one of the five-best writers in football these days. And that she could not ask the question without fear of retribution is a sad statement on the world we live in. She watched what has happened to Julie DiCaro and Rachel Nichols. So - she's eating her own face in repressed rage.

I think students should study that video/press conference in j-school. "The Importance of Not Yelling 'You Are Full of Shit!' In a Press Conference"

Before anybody asks, the NFL can do nothing. This is Ray Rice all over again, except in this instance the League admits having the photos, subject to a protective order limiting their dissemination. What's done is done

I think we understand that. But the Cowboys were under no obligation to sign him and can cut him for whatever reason they want.

If this makes them uncomfortable, that's a good thing.

They can, and they obviously won't. And I would not want to be in their position despite all his talent. There is every indication this is not going to end well.

For instance, were there indication that Aaron Hernandez was a murderous piece of shit.

Edit: To be clear - as much as I love my team and Belichick and Kraft - whiffing on Hernandez' psychopathy will forever be a major stain.

Sorry, buddy. I was being vastly less specific than the station discussion and just commenting on Jones's general debasement. :)

Completely different.

Sure, the Pats did bad on their due diligence on Aaron Hernandez, signing him to that extension. But there is no evidence that they knew what he truly was. And when that became clear they cut him immediately.

Ravens and Roger Goodell knew full well what was going on with Ray Rice, had watched the tape, and the Ravens owner conspired to bury it with Goodell because they are golfing buddies. The Ravens didn't cut Rice until the tape came out.

The Cowboys and Jerry Jones know what Greg Hardy is and had the pictures. They signed him and he has repeatedly supported him.

NFL saw the pics, NFLPA saw them, but the Cowboys were prevented from seeing them. Doesn't make it any better, they knew what he did and signed him anyway. But in this case it's not lip service, part of the agreement when the record was expunged in Hardy's case was ONLY the NFL, NFLPA and their lawyers could see the pics and that was only for the league's investigation into his violation of the personal conduct policy. Team wasn't allowed to see them and no one who had copies could legally show them.

The better analogy is probably Christian Peter. Myra led the charge but once the Krafts realized what a shitbag they had drafted, the team cut ties immediately.

Of course, it's a lot easier to disown some guy you've just drafted than an all pro pass rusher. Even so, the Kraft track record is pretty good on these matters.

Don't think I have ever enjoyed cheering against the Cowboys more than I do right now. Jerry has come too far with this nightmare to let Hardy go. He is so delusional. Crazy man with money.

I remember living in Minnesota when they signed Mossy Cade. At first, local sports reporters were of the opinion that this was a good thing, since Cade was regarded as one of the better young cornerbacks in the league before he went to jail and the Vikings got him for nothing. Then one or two stations reported the details of his conviction and, well, things changed. (Cade had been convicted of raping a woman that he was related to by marriage. When he joined the Vikings, his nickname was "aunteater." I kid you not.)

The Vikings made some feeble excuse about not being aware of the specifics, but it was a lot of nonsense and people knew it. After two days of intense media pressure, the team cut Cade and moved on.

The only way history repeats itself is if Cowboy fans demand it. I'm not holding my breath, but you never know.

"She must need more money. That's why these are out now."

Makes no sense on multiple levels.
I'm not even sure why Dallas fans would bother defending him, anyway. It's just laundry rooting, to twist yourself in knots to justify Hardy is ridiculous and really doesn't make any sense on multiple levels.

This is unbelievable.

From the second page:

This whole idea that men don't have a right to protect themselves from malicious women really p i s s e s me off. THE WOMAN WAS TRESPASSING ON HIS PROPERTY AND REFUSED TO LEAVE. SHE ATTACKED HIM.

She's fortunate the damage wasn't worse. Equating this to domestic violence as if Hardy just decided arbitrarily to start beating her is assinine.

A man has a right to defend his home, and defend himself, and I couldn't give a hot damn what her injuries were.

I was pretty psyched to come in here with that and see the perfect post to respond to it with just waiting for me.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: that board on the official Cowboys website is a fucking cesspool of epic proportions. Anything posted on that board needs to be taken with a giant grain of salt because the amount of laundry rooting that goes on there makes the pom pom waving in this forum look tame by comparison. Those idiots would find a way to defend the Cowboys signing Aaron Hernandez. And I'm not even joking.

What those morons are saying is NOT representative of how intelligent people feel about the situation. Everyone I know and everyone I talk to doesn't want Hardy on the team. Even the most die hard of fans - the ones who actually thought the Cowboys could beat the Patriots - want him gone.

I mean, that guy posting that Hardy was defending himself might as well be performance art.
