Holy shit, some INSANE moves and he almost finished it off with one second left.

Wow. That would have been a controversial call either way if Johansen put that loose puck in. Because Dubinsky got a solid piece of Fleury there after breaking everyone's ankles

I'm extremely pleased they miracle'd into the victory but it doesn't really change my overall opinion.

Crosby's now at eight straight playoff games sans a goal (Malkin has one in his last 10 or 11) and if you were watching hockey for the first time, you'd think Brandon Dubinsky was the best player in the league, not Crosby.

If you were watching hockey for the first time and didn't have preconceived biases, you might notice that one team has the puck all the time.

Pittsburgh is now +33 corsi in 5-on-5 play this series. They may not make it past the second round but they are much, much better than Columbus and will win unless MAF is a complete disaster.

Crosby has 4 assists this series and is +21 corsi 5-on-5. Malkin has 3 assists, 12 shots and is +27 corsi. Score effects helped last game as most of it was played down 2, but overall they're kicking ass.

They've been pretty much in control through most of the series. The goaltending disparity is keeping Columbus in it but Bobrovsky isn't good enough to flat out steal a series.

If Flyers/Rangers goes 6 or 7 my annoyance with Mats Zuccarello will likely escalate to full blown hatred. What a little pain in the ass he is.

Fleury's 2.99/.899, Bob is 3.32/.904.  Other than puck possession there hasn't been much difference between the two teams, which is why they've played 3 one goal games.

Fleury is the only reason it isn't 3-0 Pittsburgh. They've pretty much dominated.

I totally disagree.  He was left out to lunch multiple times in game 2 (3-1 SH breakaway, GWG with 5 guys standing around covering nobody).  He had a rough start last night and in game 1 but got it back together both times when Columbus had the momentum and gave his team a chance to get back in it.  The Fleury of the previous three years doesn't do that; he continues to melt down and Jeff Zatkoff gets in the net.

Games 1 and 2 were more even than I thought, so mea culpa on that. With regards to last nigh, the Penguins dominated and nearly doubled up the Jackets in shot attempts. If Fleury didn't suck early on, they probably cruise.

It's been closer than it probably should have been, but to say, "other than puck possession there hasn't been much difference," is an, "my aunt could be my uncle, if not for the vagina," statement.  It's a pretty big distinction to set aside.

What a horribly butchered idiom.

The only word I know how to say in arabic translates to "your father's vagina".  The things I learn from incredibly drunk Saudi's in college.

Steve Mason will dress tonight, but Ray Emery is starting. Not quite sure how I feel about that.

How the hell did the Lightning make the playoffs? What awful defense.
It's impossible to overstate how much better a defense plays in front of a competent goalie.

Losing Bishop (alongside Marty St. Louis having a complete hissy fit) sealed TB's fate.

That goal is inexcusable for a goalie to give up at this stage. Good job, good effort Tampa.

just a rough shake for TB's players. Yzerman gave up 2 2nds and a 3rd for Lindback, one of his more dubious moves.

How is Lindback the second best goalie in your system?
They're banking on Gudlevskis becoming the #2. He's worked his way up from the ECHL, was decent in the AHL, and got the call to NHL all in one season.

The other AHL goalie, Desjardins, was awesome last year with a solid D in front of him but sucked this year with a lot of the D called up to Tampa.

Marc Staal just did something to Couturier that looked like halfway between a slewfoot and a horsecollar, no call. Meanwhile breathing on a Ranger earns you 2 minutes by yourself. PPs in this series are 15-6 Rangers. I'm convinced its a Vigneault thing, he's even got grit guys like Dorsett flopping.

MacDonald had a pretty brutal flop on the Pouliot crosscheck in the 1st.

Here
Tampa's D is pathetic. Two guys go for the puck leave a wide open lane for a breakaway.

I feel like Philly should be giving Mason a look here. They're already down 3-1 so they don't have much to lose. Why not give Mason a look to in case you want to make the switch for game 4?

I would definitely have gone to Mason after that goal.

Kind of an odd call in the 2nd. Hagelin and Voracek drop their gloves and fight. 2 each for roughing. I've seen that called when the gloves come of and the guys just dance, but this was both guys throwing punches. Odd.

Carcillo gets called for an incredibly weak hook, and coming out of the box gets a breakaway and scores to put NYR up 2-1

The Rangers Carcillo gets lit up on a blind side with no penalty called.   Gets called for a hooking penalty that he got all stick.  Gets out of the box and scores to put NYR up 4-1

I wouldn't go to Mason. He had a concussion. An extra three days will only do him good. Everyone knows he's the main guy. Nothing to gain when it was 3-1, less than that to gain now.

Carbomb trying to lose his last Philadelphia friend.
