Is there a more boring team to watch than United right now?  Two goals scored and none conceded in three matches, which is not all that surprising when you play two DMs every match and tell them to stay within a few yards of the CBs.

For now, with a questionable Smalling and a converted wingback at CB, I think it makes sense so they at least don't drop too many points. Darmian and Shaw should be able to push up and build the attack.

Did you watch the match?  I thought they were very creative the first 30 minutes and just couldn't convert.  Once Newcastle found their feet then it slowed the game down but I didn't think United were poor today.

Smalling is still questionable but his confidence is growing with every good performance.  If we don't buy anyone for the backline before September 1st I'd have to imagine Rojo would return as his partner but who knows.  Fellaini would have helped in the last few minutes if not for that stupid sending off atthe end of last year.

Shaw and Darmian have started the year as our two best players.  So nice to see.

I only saw the second half so I probably missed their better moments.  Even so, they've scored one goal (discounting the OG against Spurs) in three games.

Your defense, however, looks rock solid.  Its easier to look good with two holding mids in front but Smalling is just a beast and I agree that the fullbacks have both been in very good form.

I think Carl Jenkinson is upset West Ham beat Arsenal.
Just turned a simple clearance into a red and a penalty. He's had a TERRIBLE day.

We begin with Bastian Schweinsteiger's first start for United against Soxfan121's Newcastle.

Was it good for you?

Newcastle is much more fun to support when following on twitter - not watching makes it much more bearable.

Ugh.  Unfortunately you're right.  He has a lot of potential but his habit of going down and some careless decisions need to stop if he wants to be a regular first team player.

When the veteran leadership you provide to a prospect is Ashley Young and Nani, you shouldn't be surprised when he acquires Young & Nani's best (only?) trick.

Funny, Januzaj reminds me a lot of Nani.  Wonderfully skilled, boneheaded decisions.  Everyone said Nani would mature but he didn't.  Hopefully Januzaj will.

Only trick?  Playa please...

That red on Terry was awful.
Though I was rooting for Chelsea (I know, I know...), I'm not sure I agree. I thought Clattenburg got most everything right. Terry did a good job of barely fouling him, but it looked like he definitely impeded a goal scoring opportunity. Yellow is conceivable, but red is probably right to me. And I'm glad he didnt get led into believing the foul took place in the box.
Good, scrappy game. Chelsea are still far from their best, but they absolutely needed three points, and I think the manner in which they got them may inspire them going forward.

Nasri with the goal of the week for me. Cool, calm, made it look effortless

The commentary is a good 2 seconds or so behind.  Liverpool on the front foot.
My commentary is ahead, said he hit the bar before it actually happened

Welp, Chambers and Gabriel have now both made a serious error that almost led to a Liverpool goal.

Cech has saved at least three goals so far.

It's amazing this game is still 0-0 - Arsenal had a legit goal disallowed, Liverpool has hit the post twice and should have 2-3 goals total.

Tough to play a possession oriented game building from the back with two CBs with almost no Premier League experience against an opponent known for being very good at pressing the ball.

Gabriel hasn't been too bad but Chambers is just a total trainwreck.

A Lost Time
First time I am watching Liverpool this year, I am pleasantly surprised. Seems the additions are making their money's worth and Coutinho seems to have gotten better too.
