Sorry, should have kept my divorce lawyer musings to myself. It is tempting to speculate but let’s not, thanks.
Hope everything is ok & has a positive ending.

Yes. Keep those viewings to just family time at home. ThanksHope everything turns out ok for him and his family.
And word of warning: careful searching for info about him on twitter. When I heard he was placed on restricted list i was at the gym and I searched #eduardorodriguez on twitter to see what happened. Turns out Eduardo Rodriguez is also the name of a male pornstar, and the results were not appropriate to view in public
Without de-railing the thread, that rarely works. Also, Heyman's cryptic "marital" could mean about a dozen different things, so:Exactly. One answer to having to pay out an inordinate percentage of income in a court judgment is to quit. A very high percentage of zero is zero.

Yeah, but we already know he think $77M is better than $18M, so I imagine he'll decide something is better than nothing.Exactly. One answer to having to pay out an inordinate percentage of income in a court judgment is to quit. A very high percentage of zero is zero.
I heard about that, wasn't the issue that Mrs. Zobrist didn't want Ben to be the only multi-positional person in the household?Abbey upthread had mentioned Ben Zobrist going on the restricted list during his brutal divorce, which I hadn’t known. (Zobrist and his wife were having marital issues, so the couple goes to see their pastor, who starts an affair with Zobrist’s wife. Zobrist later ends up missing two-thirds of the 2019 season and forfeited $4 million in salary.) It’s a reminder that these guys are not fantasy baseball robots but human beings with real-life shit going on that for them doesn’t automatically get turned off or tuned out at 7:05 pm.
Hoping E-Rod’s situation, whatever it is, is resolved quickly and amicably for all involved, and he can get back on the field soon.
I don't think that he can be restricted for long term Covid effects or most any other medical condition.Definitely hoping for the best for whatever is going on in his life. I just hope it isn't any long-term Covid related issues, but from the info we know at least it doesn't seem to be- although family issues can be more painful.
All that said, it's looking like a good move from Bloom to not have resigned EdRo at this point. I don't exactly know if it's a smart way to think about it- but from the '21 to the '22 rotation, I was seeing Wacha as the replacement for Eduardo which so far has worked out. Rich Hill as the fill-in for Sale which has also been a success. The cost for EdRo was incredibly reasonable and he had moments where he would look like a potential ace that finally flicked on the switch but then would appear slow and unfocused on the mound. Despite that, his cost for 5 years was still reasonable so I was a little disappointed but hindsight (for now) is starting to look good- not even considering the current "issue" with him.
I really hate feeling this way about Rodriguez because he was a good guy to root for and survived Covid and all, but what a bullet averted by the Sox. It really makes you wonder if there was more going on behind the scenes that led to Boston's lukewarm (if not nonexistent) interest in keeping him.Update on ESPN. EdRo at home but has not been in contact with the team for three weeks...
Detroit Tigers haven't heard from Eduardo Rodriguez since placing LHP on restricted list 3 weeks ago (espn.com)
I believe they just save money on it. Contender or not, he's leaving his team in the lurch, so it makes sense that the Tigers get something out of it even if it is just some savings.I wonder if the Tigers were in the mix if there would be more concern? Does his contract toll forward for as long as he is on the Restricted list? Or do they just save money this year?
He's been pitching in AAA for Toledo since Aug 6.He's going to start on Sunday with no rehab assignment? I realize he wasn't hurt but it's been quite a long stretch where he hasn't thrown in a game. Or did I miss something here?

Wow. I had never heard the Zobrist story before. What a sordid tale for these “christian celebrities”.Abbey upthread had mentioned Ben Zobrist going on the restricted list during his brutal divorce, which I hadn’t known. As someone wrote somewhere, “pride goeth before a fall.” Zobrist would’ve gotten a lot more sympathy when his marriage fell apart if he hadn’t been on the speaking circuit talking about how awesome he was (and by the way, saying “all glory to God” at the end of a brag doesn’t make it not a brag, or even a humblebrag). But I’m not sure why any other Christian, famous or otherwise, should be tarred with Zobrist’s shortcomings.Wow. I had never heard the Zobrist story before. I wasn’t tarring anyone, just referencing the article that said they were “something akin to a celebrity couple in the christian community”. It was quite the sordid tale, for children of ministers or not. She seems like a real piece of work, disparaging him for his mental health issues on top of banging the marriage counselor/pastor.As someone wrote somewhere, “pride goeth before a fall.” Zobrist would’ve gotten a lot more sympathy when his marriage fell apart if he hadn’t been on the speaking circuit talking about how awesome he was (and by the way, saying “all glory to God” at the end of a brag doesn’t make it not a brag, or even a humblebrag).
