None of the 15 players on last season's three AP All-America teams returns; every one went pro.

Per ESPN.  Gonna be a season of fresh faces.

However, pre-season top 10 is blue blood:

1. Kentucky
2. Arizona
3. Wisconsin
4. Duke
5. Kansas
6. University of No Classes
7. Florida
8. Louisville
9. Virginia
10. Texas

In the completely random trivia department, the other time the Final Four was at Lucas Oil, this happened.

My alma mater's battling Northern Iowa right now. First time ever ESPN is broadcasting live from SFA.

Good guys up 4 at the half, 39-35. UNI's a very good team.

Edit: This is a great game. 70-70 headed to OT (clutch three-point play by UNI with about 50 seconds tied it up).

Edit: Goddamn it, UNI wins 79-77 as SFA missed a fucking layoup at the buzzer. SFA's 34 consecutive home win streak is over.

New Jersey Institute of Technology beat Maine last night 90-86. NJIT is the only independent in Div 1 men's basketball.

Their schedule is crazy. They have to play more games earlier in the season since it's tough getting games during conference season, so they play 6 games over 16 days in November, and 9 games in December.

They have 16 road games and 13 home games. They open with 11 of 14, and 12 of 16, on the road. They have one stretch that's 9 of 10 on the road. Only two road games are in metro NY. Most are bus rides to elsewhere in the Northeast, but they do play at Marquette and at Michigan.

For home games, 4 are against Div 2/3 teams, since it's really hard to get home non-conference games in February. They also play a back-to-back on Feb. 2 and 3, against Hampton and Delaware St., luckily at home. If a D1 team offers them a game in Jan/Feb, especially at home, it's hard to turn it down even if it's a back-to-back.

Of their final 12 D1 games, only two are on weekends since many (most?) conference games are on weekends. Also that Maine game is part of a rare non-conference home-and-home, they play again in January.

You should've watched it. That's a grown man's team.

Luckily, if you're not a fan, they run the late 1980s G'town offense so if you can slow them down into a half-court team (must have the right personnel to do this), you have a chance.

Big East showing really well early. 39-3 with wins over 5 ranked teams so far. Nova, Providence, Georgetown, Creighton, St. John's and Butler all looking like they will be good teams.

Opening tipoff at the Barclay's center, Vanderbilt vs Lasalle, one of the players hits one of the refs in the temple, guy completely knocked out and not moving at all. Scary.

Michigan could go from the finals of the ncaa to sweet 16 to missing the NIT. They're that bad. Tough losing 5 guys to the NBA in two years, but beilein can't seem to coach defense at all
