So a thought occurred to me while listening to the Patriots Football Weekly guys say how much they thing Gronk doesn't come back:
A lot of us have thought throughout this that one of the many reasons he retired was a sticking point over salary between he and Bill. Is it that poorly conceived that one of these parties (probably the Pats) determine that there's simply too many reasons to compromise on it, if that is the case?
I guess what I'm saying is, if my choices are parting with an asset for Kyle Rudolph and/or going with some combo of what they have now and that, or just sucking it up and paying Gronk the $12m or whatever he's due for the year, it seems too likely from both parties that they'd prefer just go with the known quantity for one more year. Especially given how much the position has been addressed since his retirement.
