Open for business on Cespedes if the right deal comes along and full speed ahead on Lester and Miller. Filled a big hole here and did it right for dollars and years that make sense.

Boston still in on Pablo, Lester. Hanley allows insurance In case of pablo signing elsewhere. Giants and Padres likely his only other offers
Sandoval flying to Boston too? Did they get them both?@NEPD_Loyko: Kung Fu Panda sighting on a Flight from Miami to Boston... Looks like a Package deal.

No indications to this point that Red Sox' reported agreement with HanRam diminish interest in signing Sandoval.
twibnotes said:Good deal or not, this deal bums me out in a few respects:
- some evidence that he's a bad clubhouse guy
- he's lousy defensively
- assuming they are still in on panda and various pitchers, aren't the sox revisiting the Carl Crawford days to an extent here
- could mean x or betts is gone for Hamels
Seems a lot ore likely Panda was a feint to give them leverage with Hanley. Hanley has always made a ton more sense than PandaBeantownIdaho said:It may be the Hanley signing that will push Pablo to Boston.

No way, let's find the negative side to this deal.SydneySox said:Let us have our fun, dammit.
I think Hanley, I think the tweet is sayng it is Hanley and they hope/think Panda signs next.riboflav said:What exactly is that a picture of?
Apparently Sandoval on a flight to Boston.riboflav said:

You need to follow more 14-year-old's Twitter accounts. Duh.Hank Scorpio said:This is just increasingly bizarre and I can't wait to hear what's going on with Sandoval. Are we still in? Were we ever in? This just materialized out of nowhere over six hours. In fact, I heard very little about ANY team even meeting with Ramirez at all over the offseason. There was little, if any, speculation about him going anywhere.
I just need more details, like right now.

Hanley and Lester did NOT eat pizza together 10 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!Darnell's Son said:No way, let's find the negative side to this deal.

QFT, they do give up a draft pick for Hanley.Darnell's Son said:No way, let's find the negative side to this deal.

When?riboflav said:He's 30 and has injury issues and has had some mediocre seasons recently as a result of those injuries. Ok signing but much left to do.
We're getting Belichick, too?!ScubaSteveAvery said:A man in a gray hoodie boarding flight in first class.
Except we don't have a shortstop, which leaves an unsightly hole in the infield. X is not going anywhere AND Hanley is no longer a shortstop. Can we stop?ArgentinaSOXfan said:From a talent standpoint, if you can get Hanley and Panda, and get elite pitching for X, you do it.
But we have a budget and X is young and cheap.
But going back to the original point, I dont have a problem with giving him up if that means we are acquiring a #1/#2 pitcher.
Im sure Im in the minority with this thinking.
They are not trading Bogaerts. As you allude to, he's part of why they are able to spend some of this money. There's a lot of frantic "trading X and Betts" energy on SOSH right now. It's ludicrous.ArgentinaSOXfan said:From a talent standpoint, if you can get Hanley and Panda, and get elite pitching for X, you do it.

Given the injury issues and positional concerns, he had a good 2014, a really good 2013 when he wasn't hurt, he was good once he was traded to LA in 2011, and then was pretty good from 2006-2010.
He was pretty crappy (for him) in 2011, and for the Miami half of 2012...so he's had some mediocre 1.5 season, when he was pretty healthy? He's been a very good ballplayer recently, and for most of his career.
