I'm really sure that a dude about to make over 20 million a year gives a crap about public schools for his kid or saving $200 on a plane ticket visiting his kid in college.
His kids wont be in school for another few years anyway. The public school factor has no play at all.

Three players having a twitter dick-measuring contest over accomplishments of other people. Love the NBA.

If this is the case I'm certain that Hayward has known where he was going to sign for awhile now and these trips were nothing more than a little vacation with his wife.

If this is announced tonight the two teams who lose never had a chance. Like 0%.
Same thought here. Utah has to get a courtesy interview at least even if it's not them. If it is them, Boston and Miami are good situations so you at least want to check them out in case Utah flubs something up.

This is me hoping for the best but if it was always going to be Utah he could have easily pulled a Griffin and not bothered.

Agreed with you both, I had the same thought if he really does pick tonight. I obviously hope he picks Boston, but it's hard to hate on either loyalty or nice weather. I think Danny did his job by offering the best basketball opportunity for Haywerd (combined with the West turning into a nightmare), so he shouldn't be losing sleep either.

Fooling around on Twitter aside, IT has really become the ambassador for this team and he seems to love it.
I'm going to read a little too much into emojis here but I think their emoji choice really differentiates the culture between the Heat and Celtics. Thomas uses the trophy to signify a championship, something given to and shared by the team. Whiteside uses the ring , which is something given out to individuals instead.

I really like that Thomas went with the team prize.

Woah. You just walked into the depths of Twitter and came out with Hassan Whiteside's soul.

If Whyward was going to re-sign with UT, why meet with them in San Diego?

So why would he leave Utah for either place, especially after the team just extended one of his best friends for 4/$52m?
I tend to agree, I think the likeliest outcome for Wayhard is him staying, just not by a ton.

Fooling around on Twitter aside, IT has really become the ambassador for this team and he seems to love it.
Yeah, it's one of the best part of sports to see athletes get emotionally connected to their team and city. We have 3 franchises minting players who stay committed to the team and town after they go, even if they leave under awkward circumstances, like Mankins, Pedro, PP, Randy Moss, hell even Bronson Arroyo still talks about Boston. I think it's an underrated part of all the success that has been showered on us as fans.

So it's really going to suck when we trade Thomas for a protected 1st at the deadline or let him walk after the year. "What's the most you would pay IT4 to stay" would make an interesting thread, but I'm too much of an NBA ignoramus to start it off provocatively.

Because the Celtics have staff in Utah right now!

If Causewayward is looking for the right mix of a competitive opportunity, comfort with his coach, a stable front office and an organization with a history of success he should choose...well any one of the three meets all of those criteria. However Boston is arguably the best in each category.

Joe Ingles return aside, the Jazz got marginally worse even if Hill resigns there given the moves of Minnesota and OKC. Boston really does offer the best chance to compete deep into the playoffs now and in the years to come.

It is a nice report to see, but I am not getting my hopes up this year. I jumped at anything that said we had a chance to get Durant last year, so I am expecting Hayward to sign somewhere else until it is official.

I love the posts on other boards and twitter posts citing Hayward is coming here because their cousin or whoever works for the Celtics. Silly season is so much fun.

That never happens HERE! Oh wait...

Coworkers buddy works at CAA, said to expect it to happen tonight for two picks at least. Everything they're hearing is KP to Boston. Grain of salt and all that.

"Ramona shelbourbe: reading the tea leaves, Gordon Hayward told jazz he wanted Rubio and he'd love to play with him"

Sounds a little gay. I think the signing of Ingles is more troublesome sign

For what its worth, Windhorst was bloviating on the Tony Kornheiser Show this morning and declared he thought Hayward would go to Miami. He claimed he's heard from several agents stating players don't have a good view of Boston because of the draft pick "assets" situation. From the Miami perspective, Riley can set the team up around him, can get players around him rather than talk about draft picks, and can set him up for a run at the Finals every year in the East.

This of course doesn't make any sense because a) Celtics are also in the East, b) are already better than the Heat, c) have been able to attract free agents and develop talent internally.

Windhorst should stick to reporting about what kind of toilet paper LeBron uses.

He says this like the Celtics weren't already in the final four just a few weeks ago. Doesn't matter. I never get too worked up over what "agents" and "GMs" who literally have zero insight into the situation have to say.

Not feeling great about the Rubio tweets from Ramona. Says the Jazz 100% traded for Rubio with Hayward in mind and had him at the presentation today (along w/ Gobert and Ingles).

I mean, if Hayward thinks Ricky Rubio is the missing piece, go with God I guess. Not a ton you can say at that point.

I would be pretty confident in wagering that the Celtics make the NBA Finals before the Jazz (that is even with Hayward re-upping with the Jazz). If Gordon wants to win, he pretty much needs to go to the ECF.
If he wants to stay with the Jazz, that is fine, but through no fault of the Utah organization, that team is pretty far away from contention b/c of how stacked the West is.

Edit: I do realize neither team may make the finals anytime soon, but I still think the Celtics are closer.

What's the fun of going to a team with assets?

Umm, you know the Jazz have Ricky Rubio now, right?

Didn't he want Hill to re-sign? Why would he want Rubio?
Man if that's true, that's pretty cold to Hill. "Umm sorry you didn't get your max contract with the Jazz because I asked them to get Rubio instead of you. No biggie right?"

If LBJ goes West, I would think that the Cs would be among the favorites for winning the East. That could happen pretty soon.
