Hockey has improved immensely, but IMHO opinion still the worst, in terms of what they allow from coaches, and do to players.
I think the group is smaller, limited to white guys from Canada and a few USA spots. I still hear from junior hockey teams stories of coaches drinking on team busses, and using the type of language (P---y, f----t, etc) that was gone from hoops, a long time ago. These kids will play 70-80 game seasons. Games are scheduled without a break for school exams, etc. In fact, during the study weeks they usually add extra games since travel is easier. 16 year old kids get traded halfway across Canada midseason. There are fewer and fewer teams like this, but they are still there. Many of these teams are in small rural Canadian towns where much/all of the organization has been there for years, and they don't really like some college city boy coming in telling them how to do things. For example, provinces with vax mandates are seeing some Jr hockey teams just ignore them for their fans. Football, Basketball, baseball have most of the developmental leagues at educational institutions.
