Ward-Prowse found hisSpurs looking ragged, but Saints not yet looking to have finishing boots on.
It was just a yellow, he already had a yellow.I hate that as a red card…I get it, but it was a challenge in the box he missed on. Wasn’t dangerous. Yellow and a pen is punishment enough. Now the game is basically over.
okay, thanks. I was very surprised. It was just a yellow, he already had a yellow.
Would have been ridiculous as a straight red for sure.
I thought the arm couldn’t be offsides:If you look at the position of their feet, Kane is onside, but I believe that by extending his arm, he ends up offside.
It's a dumb ruling because what it really does is reward the defender for being flat-footed (thus keeping his arms at his side) and penalize the offensive player for running and being active.
https://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/lawsandrules/laws/football-11-11/law-11---offsideThe hands and arms of all players, including the goalkeepers, are not considered. For the purposes of determining offside, the upper boundary of the arm is in line with the bottom of the armpit.
The narrative becomes “good teams find ways to win even when not playing well” if they didn’t get screwed by VAR, but also they should not have played so poorly. Not coming away with three points sucks. Spurs were too sloppy in the final third and their first-touch let them down on a number of occasions.
Yeah, they got 14 shots on target, but so many of them were right down the barrel. I felt like 20 minutes of the second half were spent by Fraser Forster cradling the ball in his hands. The narrative becomes “good teams find ways to win even when not playing well” if they didn’t get screwed by VAR, but also they should not have played so poorly.
The end also turned a bit into the classic “mediocre goalkeeper makes save after save after save” story, but none of them were to difficult really.
Has a player ever been worse at finishing basic chances while scoring from nothing?Just not happening for Mané at the moment.
