Awesome. Get your ass back over to Brady's for a workout.

I'm guessing this may mean adios for Amendola.
I don't think so

Necessary addition to Amendola and the 3 cubs. Well done. Great week.

Woo!

Am happy. Would love some DL help and was hoping for a new C, but basically anything now is lagniappe -- willing to go to the draft (and season) with what they have as a foundation.

There's nothing to be gained by the Pats if they cut Amendola. Dude may be made of glass, but Edelman has never been healthy for a full season before 2013. Wouldn't want to throw all my eggs in that basket.

WR market is so dead they likely didn't have to give Edelman the money Amendola got - also, cutting Amendola costs more then keeping him.

I agree and hope not -- add one more rookie WR in the draft one way or the other, but now willing to go into next season with Edelman and the 3 sophomores. I'm willing to assume/hope that the Amendola of the pre-season and game 1 is the real guy and that post injury he was just playing hurt. Of course, the Pats know a ton more in that respect than I do.

Happy to have him back; let's hope what we saw last year is the new norm for Edelman.

As good as this is, I think the Pats are still cooking up a move we don't see coming. I think they're looking to load up and we're going to see another big splash at the receiver position. Just a gut feeling, which means nothing.

No, I don't think so. I think Amendola became more-or-less locked in on Day 2 of free agency. But I think we'll see JE in the slot and DA more or less used as more of a deep-but-inside-the-numbers type. The offense actually seems like it has the potential to be pretty dynamic, provided Dobson and Thompkins take a step or two forward and Gronk and Vereen stay healthy.

Wouldn't be surprised if after a disappointing offseason for Edelman it's again a short term prove-it deal. Though I'm hoping it's for more years.

Edelman's agent should be flayed alive if it's a one year prove it deal. He just had his prove it year and knocked it out of the park. I imagine this is the same 3-year deal he was originally offered. Maybe the Pats threw in a gift card to Dunkin' Donuts as a sign of good faith to tip the scales.

What are the numbers. Take your best guess.

3/14, with 9.5 guaranteed.

Wouldn't mind a mid round pick on a bigger WR, otherwise good to go there now

Use a 6th on a bigger receiver.  Mid round should be DT, DE, TE or C.

And teams still weren't that interested. He obviously thought the first Pats offer was under what he was worth. If he puts up another year like last year (wouldn't be too hard) I think money will be flying next year with the higher cap and some big name FA WRs.
