Duran got another chance this year because of injury and when he did he seized the moment by absolutely raking in April and forcing them to keep him around and playing most days. When Dalbec got a chance because of injuries this year he went 2/12 with 8 Ks.
Dalbec has been excellent down in AAA, and never got a second chance this year. A single AB before getting pulled for a PH in the third inning? Then back to Worcester.

He’s got a 34% K rate in AAA too which I’m sure the Red Sox are aware of. That’s going to have a lot more trouble translating to the MLB level while staying effective at the plate.

Schwarber has a 35% k rate in MLB this year
Luis Robert has a 32% k rate in MLB this year

And you know who else has a 34% k rate?
Mike Trout

But the 2 others are anything but.

Point is that K rate is largely irrelevant. (Other than specific situations like man on 3rd and 1 out)
It's irrelevant when you're good the times you make contact. This is ignoring the part where Dalbec has no role on a team where Turner and Casas are both hitting (and that when he was called up earlier this year after raking in AAA he didn't do anything)

So bad that the team up 2-1, about to be up 3-1, in the LCS continues to have him batting leadoff.
Great, except he sucked because he was a butcher in the field which killed a ton of his offensive value. You keep referencing the smallest of sample sizes like they mean literally anything

Have you told this theory to Rob Thompson?
Point is, he is only defensively bad and that can be negated immediately. He was never overall bad because you could always put him in at DH.

The guy who stopped playing Schwarber in the field because he was fucking terrible at it? Which was a huge part of the reason he was one of the worst players at the time I said that. Funny how you waited until he started hitting in the playoffs to bump a months old comment.

I'm sure if instead of him getting a few hits over a massive 4 game sample size he had 0 you would have made the same bump right?

Also jesus fucking christ I just realized this was a random dead game thread and not an ongoing thread somewhere else. You seriously don't have anything better to do with your time? I guess not since you feel the need to post a million times a day in every single thread even thought most of those posts add 0 substance to the discussion.

That was a reverse jinx and also wasn’t Waltham Kyle’s fault they lost

but you do you
No it wasn't, but I wasn't the one who decided to tie his performance to the team results. How good a player he was this year changes 0.00% based on if they won today, if he went 0/4 or if he went 4/4 with 4 HRs

Boston
bumped for posterity
Ah, July 22. The previous night’s game was suspended and I was in to see its conclusion. The Sox should have won that game and didn’t, and I headed down the elevators thinking sell mode was assured. Halfway down I realized I left my phone at the seat and sprinted back up to Level 3. I came running around a corner and almost ran headlong into John Henry.

Henry regarded me quizzically. I stammered something really original like, “we’ll get the next game, John” and he replied, “yes, yes we will.” I decided this was a sign, retrieved my phone and started the game thread on the spot hoping we’d have a bit of a streak. This would force Chaim into acquiring a pitcher, the team would make the playoffs field and go deep into October.

it didn’t materialize as I hoped but we did beat the Mets and then in the same thread the Phillies lost.

A twofer!

Hey Rich. Regards to the old group if you’re still in touch (except ham - hence the Philly hate).

Come up and see a game with me at Fenway. I’m back in Boston
