After seeing two teams pull out of the MLS is Back tournament that's not a wild position. But charity is always good!I would put money down on at least one of the 24 teams not playing at all.
Edit: Fine, I will. $25 to the charity of the winner. Mine's https://www.commonjustice.org/
Terms: 1 of the current 24 teams in the play-in or already qualified is forced to withdraw not due to game losses but due to a covid outbreak or quarrantine. If all teams are eliminated during hockey, $25 from me to your charity.
My vacation starts on July 31st. We were supposed to go to Vermont but can’t because of Covid. I may not leave my living room all week and be happy.Game times are out. Bruins play an exhibition vs. Columbus on the 30th at 7:00, Philly on 8/2 at 3:00, Tampa on 8/5 at 4:00, and Washington on 8/8 is still TBA. 4 of the first 5 days there’s games on from Noon until 1:30 AM EST. Unbelievably awesome.
If I don’t have fall sports, I’m not moving off my couch except to pee.My vacation starts on July 31st. We were supposed to go to Vermont but can’t because of Covid. I may not leave my living room all week and be happy.
Cassidy says both Pasta and Kase aren’t in good enough shape to practice. That’s very disappointing to me that they didn’t come ready to play.Pasta not practicing today and not available to reporters today. Great.
I think you are misinterpreting that. The league set guidelines that teams are not allowed to give indications of why a player isn't available so that they don't divulge Covid-19 test results. "Unfit to play" is how they are directed to respond when a player is not available for a practice. Could be an injury, positive test result, or potential exposure to someone with Covid symptoms / positive test result.Cassidy says both Pasta and Kase aren’t in good enough shape to practice. The players have financial interests as well, especially the end of the bench guys, so it's not completely one-sided.Am I alone in being uncomfortable with this whole situation? I'm really wrestling with whether to sign up for YouTube TV (it's the easiest way to get NESN/NHL for me) and watch or not.
I don't believe it's safe yet, despite what seem to be fairly well thought-through plans. I believe financial interests are far and away the driving forces. I'm not particularly comfortable supporting any league trying to reopen right now.
Tell me I'm over-reacting, I might agree with you.
You're right. It's very complicated. I don't mean to be a negative ned on everything. The players have financial interests as well, especially the end of the bench guys, so it's not completely one-sided.
I don't think it's quite that bad, Pasta apparently had his first high level practice yesterday, so probably just needed a recovery day today.Cassidy says both Pasta and Kase aren’t in good enough shape to practice. That’s very disappointing to me that they didn’t come ready to play.
I hear you, but at the same time I think that sports returning will ease some of the mental health burdens being put on the country as well, so I am thankful that the leagues are doing whatever they can to get back to action, even more so because we know it is dangerous. I am hopeful that the procedures and policies put in place will make it as safe as possible for the players and coaches involved.Am I alone in being uncomfortable with this whole situation? You're not alone in this. I'm very apprehensive about this, despite being happy seeing this current incarnation of the Bruins play for the Cup and playoff hockey receiving the spotlight it deserves. Between the players themselves, staffers, officials, TV production crews, etc... that's a lot of people placed into a risky situation all for the sake of playing a game. We know the potential lethality of the disease, but severe infections of COVID can cause permanent cardiovascular damage that can easily end a playing career.Am I alone in being uncomfortable with this whole situation? If you’ve ever gone to some sparsely populated college games, it is a very very different sound. It’ll be interesting to see how the pro game sounds in an empty arena. Not really news, but this was a fun article about how different the sounds could be with the empty arenas. I'm really excited to maybe be able to hear the coaches and the player communications that we didn't really get to hear before, though I'm not sure how much of it the pumped in noise (on the TV only, weird) will prevent us from hearing stuff.
If you know anyone in the Boston area who will lend you their cable log-in, you can probably download the NESN app and watch the Bruins games and the NBC Sports app for everything else. For those who have cut the cord, what are your plans for watching as much hockey as possible. We just cut over a month ago. Is NHL.TV the best bet for everything? They have the qualifying round for 4.99 w/ local and national blackouts. I have a VPN so I can 'be' somewhere else in order to get the Bruins. Curious what will be a national blackout, I'm guessing all the games on NBC? Maybe it's worth doing a HULU Live / YouTube TV free trial for the first week to avoid any blackouts?
Was trying not to be that guy but might. If you know anyone in the Boston area who will lend you their cable log-in, you can probably download the NESN app and watch the Bruins games and the NBC Sports app for everything else.
Antenna would probably get you all the NBC games no problem. For those who have cut the cord, what are your plans for watching as much hockey as possible. We just cut over a month ago. Great point. Hadn't even thought of that even though I just set one up for my folks. One issue I have is the receiver is buried in a media closet. Not sure what I'll pick up from in there. Worth a shot though.Antenna would probably get you all the NBC games no problem.
I would hope that peacock would have it. It says they'll have live sports and this is theirs, so I would hope so. If someone reminds me to check during the early minutes of the first game, I can do so.For those who have cut the cord, what are your plans for watching as much hockey as possible. Just a follow up here to what was posted in the cut the cord thread, but locast.org seems to be a great answer for network TV. Got the app on my firestick and watching the Sox on FOX right now.Great point. Hadn't even thought of that even though I just set one up for my folks.
