Prisco has been a professional idiot for more than a decade. For example, he's long been one of Kerry Byrne's favorite (and ripest) targets at Cold Hard Football Facts. I also remember that as late as the 2004 preseason, he was still calling TB "a system QB" and describing the Pats two (at the time) SB wins as flukey.
He is a shorter, whinier Ron Borges. He has been horrendous forever.

Edit:

PFT Commenter was on Lana Berry's podcast a week or so ago and told a funny Prisco story.  I can't do it justice in writing, but you can hear it here, starting around the 12:15 mark.

Don of course didn't play any games but he did spend what, 200-225 days a year with the team between games, spring training, flying on the team plane etc? What a jerk.
It's like it was impossible for him to comprehend that people were showing appreciation for him for the last 15 years, coupled with how badly NESN botched everything.

The idea that other people just "like" someone or something is totally foreign to Callahan. It seems similar to his World Cup rantings. People weren't enjoying the US Mens' team run becuase the like soccer, or sports, or just enjoyed watching this particular spectacle. No, it had to be because of some form of political correctness and fear of a backlash from the soccer nazis.

I liked Orsillo's work; by all accounts, he seemed like a nice enough guy.  A lot of people think he got kinda screwed because the "upgrade" seems not worth the canning. Its not as though people are setting themselves on fire. It was a handful of nice tributes and he got to talk for 2 minutes.  There's a reasson why Orsillo got his 15 minutes and Jerry Trupiano didn't and Joe Castig will.

Callahan's problem is that he's now just a cranky old white guy that most people despise, not because he's conservative or because his opinion differs from others, but because he's culitvated a persona that villifies the other side no matter what it is.  Soccer, politics, food if you don't think like he does he spews hatred at you.

As a result he's become the broadcasting villain that no one likes.

Now you take affable Don Orsillo who's doing what he loves, never made an enemy in this town, has 3 World Series Rings, and is getting heroes send off, not from the team BUT FROM THE FANS and he just doesn't get it because all Orsillo ever did was enter people's homes for 3-4 hours a night for 15 years and people just liked him. (Hell, my wife switched from being a Yankees fan to a Red Sox fan because she enjoyed Don and Jerry) Few like Gerry let alone have any genuine affection for him.

So it makes sense.  The Red Sox and NESN can't shit on Don on the way out, no rumors of affairs or pain meds, and they've already taken a beating by the public, so what do they do?  Call their old buddy Gerry Callahan who's as tone deaf as they are and whine that they don't understand why he's getting so much love.

It's scary how much it's like Mr. Potter and George Bailey.

Yesterday when discussing CC going to rehab forehead chimes in that he should've kept drinking and dealt with that problem only after the playoffs ended.
He wasn't being funny, just dead serious

Did that go over well with the guy across the desk from him? Either guy, really. (Minihane is in recovery too, right?)

Both JD and Kirk are recovering alcoholics. I didn't hear this though so I have no idea if there was pushback.

Dennis and kirk both strongly disagreed with callahan's reasoning. It was incredible how sincere he was about CC putting off rehab so long as the yanks could be helped.
Kirk mostly seems like a master troll these days, but it's always interesting to listen to him speak about addiction, it's the one topic that he still sounds genuine about, and is empathic for others in such a battle.

Go f*ck yourself
They brought out the racism this morning when discussing Michael Irvin, Deion Sanders. Gerry said something along the lines of I bet Irvin has never voted republican, to which Dino replied, I bet he's never voted, period. Then they went on to bask in the tribulations of Irvin's past legal and drug issues.

Heard Schilling was going to be on today so I listened...They spent the first 20 minutes leading up to him saying that Jessica Mendoza only got the job b/c she is a woman and Curt deserves to be here, but PC has run amok and this is the world we live in..."speak your mind and lose your job to a woman."

To his credit, Schilling did deflect the criticism, saying that Mendoza deserves a shot and that he saw her as a hidden gem and she can talk the shit out of hitting a baseball with any guy out there...and then preceded to blame a NYT article blasting him sour grapes b/c he made all of the NYT fans shut up 11 years ago.

Since they're getting crushed in the ratings is the new line that only real fans listen to WEEI? Home of the real fan!

some interesting behind the scenes stuff w/ D&C producer Chris Curtis

edit:
a few tidbits
-concedes that D&C is probably not Phil Zachary's flavor
-defends Gerry for attacking Rich Eisen re Jess Mendoza
-slams T&R for pandering to pink hats
I only listened to the first 35 minutes or so but I thought he came off terrible. Not very articulate in his thoughts yet the way he spoke you would think he invented the producer position.

3rd morning in a row they continue to harp on the Brady/Guerrero stuff. I'm convinced they (or maybe just Kirk) are dying to get this to go national so they can get some attention.  But it doesn't seem to be working.

At some point I wonder if Brady just tells them to fuck off, and stops going on there. I would think he gets next to nothing from those appearances in terms of tangible benefit. If those 3 jerk-offs are determined to try show how tough they are, and how they're not honks, and make cheap noise for a staggering program at his expense, I wonder why he would keep bothering.

Pretty sure Brady appears because of a contract between WEEI and the Patriots.  He's not doing it because he likes to or wants to, he's contractually obligated.  It's the same deal that has Belichick on every Monday afternoon with Dale & Holley.  I would imagine that given their druthers, neither Belichick nor Brady would do weekly hits on any radio station...or do media availability at all during the week.

Makes sense. I guess I always assumed those kind of appearances were negitiated between the player/coach and the media outlet. Can see where having the team involved would complicate trying terminate the arrangement. He must be holding his nose every time he goes on with the those tools at this point.

can't Patriots PR give them D&C a list of topics they can discuss? pretty sure that is the deal w/ most radio interviews

I hope they try this. This show would be very open to your idea and not turn it into the newest Patriots controversy.

Or couldn't they just give them another player?  Have Slater, or Ghost, or someone like that.  No offense to those guys, but people aren't necessarily getting up early to listen to them.  I mean, Brady is a huge get for them the morning after a game.  And while he's generally pretty predictable, they've gotten some good stuff from him.  Most recently with Guererro and the morning after DG broke (with Brady's laughing "Now I've heard it all" comment.

I would hate this. Like a lot. I don't want Patriots PR telling anyone what they can and can not talk about. Tom Brady is a big boy, if he doesn't like what's being asked he can either tell them to fuck of for take the high road and deflect.

Having the Pats PR give D, C & M the questions is like Pravda.

Guys, we're all adults here not everything has to be sanitized for everyone's protection.

I'd imagine it's in the contract that the starting QB and the head coach have to talk to the drive time crews.  The mid-day show gets the rest of the roster to choose from (which seems to rotate).  IIRC, Cassel was the guy they talked to every Monday morning in 2008 after Brady got hurt.

I'm 100% with you on this.

If D&C FEATURING MINAHANE go after this talk track again next week, I'd 100% applaud Brady for trying to change the topic or just hanging up. I don't want the Patriots to dictate the questions, but at the same times I don't want D&C just using the interviews to push their own agenda. The whole station is taking the one interview and trying to make it a huge story to a point where it's completely tired. We all get it. It was a scam, many people to blame. Brady's a dope.

There was a bunch of positive posts about their interviews and how they're GOING AFTER EVERYONE! earlier in this thread. I'm completely sick of their "interviews" of taking shots at people, talking over each other, Kirk yelling random insults in the background, followed by them all patting each other on the back.

Most interviews end with WE REALLY GOT THEM! WHAT A LIAR HE IS! OH MAN WHAT A PUSSY HE IS! KIRK, THEY'RE AFRAID OF YOU. SPORTZZZ DEBATE!

I'm not a WEEI or D&C fan, so i'm sure i'm biased, but the interviews went from "Wow, they're taking a hard line!" to "They're just being self absorbed bro douchebags" pretty fast.

They'll go after Doyel pretty hard tomorrow I imagine.  I'm surprised he even agreed to go on.  He ripped Pats fans pretty hard today, so I assume he likes the attention and knows what he's doing.

Doyel will hold his own. And when it is over, both parties will address their fans and claim victory while insulting the other. Just mind-blowingly transparent.

Summary
DC Kirk- So Gregg you assert questionable XYZ in writing correct?
Gregg- Well, it's hyperbolic and it was at the moment. Gray area. I THINK all three guilty re Brady Armstrong Bonds. We'll agree to disagree.

Can't substantively argue with that.

Oh come on HB is 100% right the only thing that has changed is the target and now that it's Brady they are jerks and bullies. Now if you'll excuse me I need to go take a long hot shower to get clean after defending both D&C AND Homebrew in the same post.
