I didn’t think the column was actually that negative. It’s negative, of course, but it concedes his brilliance.

I think the core of a lot of it is right. Being like BB works when you have the credibility of winning. If all of your players suck, his coachingstyle makes you just an impotent jerk. Isn’t that kind of how it’s gone for his coaching tree? They try to be BB but without his record of winning and without nearly as much talent and it goes to shit.

I'm pretty sure he's strongly implied if not outright said that he went to Exeter and hated the townies. Hence his hatred for the Pats.

He went to Colby and hated those townies, too, so he has multiple New England reasons to hate the Pats.

I think it’s important to note that going to Colby doesn’t make you a bad person.

Mostly because everyone who chooses to go to Colby is already a bad person.
