The sad thing is I wouldn't be surprised if that was a serious response. It's hilarious, but I bet ~30% of the people who read it won't be in on the joke.
If you're Marlon Byrd, was doing steroids the best decision you ever made or the second best decision you've ever made? $17M earned after he should have been out of baseball anyways... that's a big win for him. I don't know what you can do about that, honestly. Guys who aren't good enough to be in the majors have no real disincentive to take PEDs, and I'm not sure you can ever really come up with one that hurts more than simply not making it in MLB.
