I'm so confused. I thought Barnes had turned things around last year and finished solidly. Yet Brasier persists.
And people will still blame Cora for pitching Brasier despite the FO keeping him on the roster.

Could this be because he's so expensive that they figure he clears and they can add him back when Story goes on the 60 day IL?
Unlikely. If Barnes pitches like he did to close the season, his contract is friendly.
Yeah, no kidding. 1.59 ERA in the 2nd half of last year, including 0 ER in 10.1 IP in September.
Huh? On the surface, this is a bizarre move to make, especially at this point in time. I’m baffled.
Yeah, you're probably right, and I am on board with the "this seems like a really weird, maybe dumb move" train.
Not sure I'm off the bandwagon, but I definitely, 100% disagree with this move, unless something else comes down.

From a talent/performance standpoint, not to mention a financial standpoint, this makes absolutely no sense. No matter how hard I squint, I can't see any way to justify this move unless it's something really bad off-field.
Does that mean we eliminate his salary from the payroll? Maybe a bigger move is coming and they need room?

Yes.
But it wouldn't surprise me if he's better than 6 other guys they didn't cut so I'm hoping there's another shoe to drop.
Is there a reason why they’d DFA him now in anticipation of making a trade, instead of just waiting a couple days to trade him and then adding Duval to the 40?
And wasn't Brasier the one who had to internally address something he tweeted about a couple years ago?
