Do people really think this? I just figured there were probably different ones that MLB doesn't test or doesn't know how to test for.DanoooME said:There are no more PEDs.

Dating back to his last start, at this point Kluber had stuck out 23 of 31 batters faced. 1 had a hit, 1 hbp, 1 gb, 5 fb.Kluber has struck out the first 5 guys tonight.
He was also 0 for 13 to finish up last year. So, 2 for his last 57. Coudn't happen to a nicer guy (I mean, he is a good guy).dynomite said:Old pal Coco Crisp, in 12 games since his return from the DL, is a Craig Grebeck-ian 2 for 44, good for a .045 batting average.
Which brings Sanchez's ERA to 5.50. A lot of good pitchers are struggling early this season.grimshaw said:Braun, Lind and Ramirez go back to back to back vs Anibel Sanchez.
Yeah, he's up to .98 ERA. Poor guy!LuckyBen said:Miller finally gives up a run(s) and it's a game winner by Zimmerman. I love tuning into the Yankees feed to listen to those calls.

Pretty outrageous.
and he was ejected for stepping out of the box.... Do the pace of play rules say that a batter is ejected for not stepping into the box? Ump is a jokeE5 Yaz said:It apparently started with a strike call on a pitch that almost hit the dirt
Pitch was a little low. Nowhere near the dirt. Probably a bad call, but we see 5 or 6 similiar calls everyday. It's on MLB.com (as is the ejection) but I'm not smart enough to link from my phoneE5 Yaz said:It apparently started with a strike call on a pitch that almost hit the dirt
Watched this game tonight. He has really turned it on this year again. That staff is gonna be tough, Hudson has been brilliant.nvalvo said:That said, this thing where Tim Lincecum is really good again is one of the more fun things about this season.
How has he done it? Has he regained speed on his fastball or is he just utilizing his diminished stuff better?mauidano said:Watched this game tonight. He has really turned it on this year again.

He appeared to be gesturing that he was standing in the batters box when the ump decided to walk away to escalate with the dugout. Who knows what he said to go with it. The fact he got thrown out was a complete joke.Flunky said:
heh, I wonder what Harper was muttering as he stepped back in the box (slowly). Not defending the ump, just would love to be a fly on the plate sometimes... lol...
He's throwing it down the pipe and getting weak contact. I watched his start against teh Reds last week, he looked TERRIBLE.OzSox said:How has he done it? Has he regained speed on his fastball or is he just utilizing his diminished stuff better?
How do you explain the Dodgers eating out of his hand last night?MakMan44 said:He's throwing it down the pipe and getting weak contact. I watched his start against teh Reds last week, he looked TERRIBLE.
If you check out his fangraphs page you'll see that his k/9 is the lowest of his career, his walk rate is the highest and he has a HR/FB rate of jsut 2.4%.
Not sure what Mauidano is talking about either, Hudson was good the other night but the rest of his starts have been pretty crappy.
A bad pitcher is allowed to have fantastic starts. I mean, the guy threw a no hitter in the last two seasons and he ended up with a ERA over 4 by season's end.Al Zarilla said:How do you explain the Dodgers eating out of his hand last night?

in danger of a shutout sweep. Wonder when that's happened last with the Dodgers.kieckeredinthehead said:Through the fifth today, Dodgers haven't scored for 22 innings. Two runs in their past 43.
I already conceded that there's totally a chance he ends up with an ERA near his current FIP, which would be a pretty great season for the Giants and Tim. I just don't think an 8 game sample size is all that significant when we have 3 straight years that tell us that this is not who Tim is anymore. But again, I could be wrong, I'm just not buying it right now.Al Zarilla said:Last night was his fourth shutout effort of 6 - 8 innings this year, and third in his last four. This winter, he went to his father, who has helped him before, to work on his delivery. Maybe he's pitching to contact this year more instead of trying to strike everybody out. Last night's game was in kind of squally weather (Lincecum weather). I don't care much about Tim or the Giants or his record this year, but how long can you pooh pooh his results this year because his peripherals aren't great. Totally SSS, but last night, Adrian Gonzalez looked pretty awful against Tim.

Video goodness
After Joyce ejected him (pretty quickly) Smith's response was pretty telling...not mad at the umps or arguing his case, but yelling and swearing at the Brave's dugout. So he clearly wasn't mad at the umps for being tossed, but the Braves for ratting him out.
Don't these guys know they have to hide it A LITTLE?

This is another one of those ridiculous "unwritten rules": "It's OK to use stuff to improve your grip, just don't be blatant about it."
Just make pine tar legal and get on with life.
