Bryce Harper is on fire:  .338/.476/.729 with 14 homers after going 3/4 today.
And this is who players voted this Spring as the most overrated player in baseball.

The frustration of the Houston series got to Blue Jays star 3rd basemen Josh Donaldson on Saturday night. He was quoted saying This isn’t the try league. This is the get it done league. Eventually they’re going to find people who are going to get it done.” Fans were quick to say Donaldson was throwing people under the bus. However, John Gibbonsand Robbie Alomar applauded Donaldson’s comments. The Blue Jays aren’t getting it done on any facet right now.

There
Ichiro has two hits so far tonight, and is now tied with Babe Ruth on the MLB all-time hit list with 2,873 hits.

The cradle of the game.
Scores of all 6 games that are live right now: 3-2 (8th), 1-1 (10th), 2-2 (12th), 1-1 (7th), 1-1 (5th), 1-1 (4th). That's just 17 runs in 90 half-innings.

Do people really think this? I just figured there were probably different ones that MLB doesn't test or doesn't know how to test for.

We're living in a post-steroids era where player performance is essentially at historical norms.

Players/trainers will always be looking and they will eventually find something to replace steroids/HGH.  So while it will never be accurate to say "there are no more PEDs," it's absolutely accurate to say that for the time being, the impact of PEDs on the game appears to have decreased to the point of irrelevance.

Kluber has struck out the first 5 guys tonight.
Dating back to his last start, at this point Kluber had stuck out 23 of 31 batters faced. 1 had a hit, 1 hbp, 1 gb, 5 fb.

Old pal Coco Crisp, in 12 games since his return from the DL, is a Craig Grebeck-ian 2 for 44, good for a .045 batting average.
He was also 0 for 13 to finish up last year. So, 2 for his last 57. Coudn't happen to a nicer guy (I mean, he is a good guy).

Miller finally gives up a run(s) and it's a game winner by Zimmerman. I love tuning into the Yankees feed to listen to those calls.

It apparently started with a strike call on a pitch that almost hit the dirt

and he was ejected for stepping out of the box.... Do the pace of play rules say that a batter is ejected for not stepping into the box? Ump is a joke

Pitch was a little low. Nowhere near the dirt. Probably a bad call, but we see 5 or 6 similiar calls everyday. It's on MLB.com (as is the ejection) but I'm not smart enough to link from my phone

That said, this thing where Tim Lincecum is really good again is one of the more fun things about this season.
Watched this game tonight. He has really turned it on this year again. That staff is gonna be tough, Hudson has been brilliant.

How has he done it? Has he regained speed on his fastball or is he just utilizing his diminished stuff better?

The ball was right at or just below the bottom of the zone. Nowhere near being in the dirt.

That said, Harper did nothing to justify an ejection. Ump was an arrogant douche.

heh, I wonder what Harper was muttering as he stepped back in the box (slowly). Not defending the ump, just would love to be a fly on the plate sometimes... lol...
He appeared to be gesturing that he was standing in the batters box when the ump decided to walk away to escalate with the dugout. Who knows what he said to go with it. The fact he got thrown out was a complete joke.

He's throwing it down the pipe and getting weak contact. I watched his start against teh Reds last week, he looked TERRIBLE.

If you check out his fangraphs page you'll see that his k/9 is the lowest of his career, his walk rate is the highest and he has a HR/FB rate of jsut 2.4%.

Not sure what Mauidano is talking about either, Hudson was good the other night but the rest of his starts have been pretty crappy.

How do you explain the Dodgers eating out of his hand last night?

The Giants have won 13 games in May; 6 of those wins by shutout. They are just a really hard team to gauge right now. Brandon Crawford has been the best shortstop in baseball. Weirdness.

A bad pitcher is allowed to have fantastic starts. I mean, the guy threw a no hitter in the last two seasons and he ended up with a ERA over 4 by season's end.

Maybe he's better than he was last season, ends up with a sub 4 ERA. I don't know. However, I do know that it's incredibly unlikely that a guy with Lincecum's line ends up with an ERA around 2 by season's end.

Last night was his fourth shutout effort of 6 - 8 innings this year, and third in his last four. This winter, he went to his father, who has helped him before, to work on his delivery. Maybe he's pitching to contact this year more instead of trying to strike everybody out. Last night's game was in kind of squally weather (Lincecum weather). I don't care much about Tim or the Giants or his record this year, but how long can you pooh pooh his results this year because his peripherals aren't great. Totally SSS, but last night, Adrian Gonzalez looked pretty awful against Tim.

Through the fifth today, Dodgers haven't scored for 22 innings. Two runs in their past 43.
in danger of a shutout sweep. Wonder when that's happened last with the Dodgers.

Edit, done. Krukow said a three game sweep by the Giants over the Dodgers last happened in 2012. Giants have their number, it would appear. I should go to a game during their next series with a 1988 sign. [emoji6]

I already conceded that there's totally a chance he ends up with an ERA near his current FIP, which would be a pretty great season for the Giants and Tim. I just don't think an 8 game sample size is all that significant when we have 3 straight years that tell us that this is not who Tim is anymore. But again, I could be wrong, I'm just not buying it right now.

Video goodness

After Joyce ejected him (pretty quickly) Smith's response was pretty telling...not mad at the umps or arguing his case, but yelling and swearing at the Brave's dugout. So he clearly wasn't mad at the umps for being tossed, but the Braves for ratting him out.

Don't these guys know they have to hide it A LITTLE?

This is another one of those ridiculous "unwritten rules":  "It's OK to use stuff to improve your grip, just don't be blatant about it."

Saw his interview where he said he was rushing to get in game and didn't run sunscreen in properly. Seriously? That's the best excuse he could think up when it was a night game. What an idiot.

I'm looking forward to this story leading the national news and the Brewers losing draft picks.
