I wouldn't mind a Battle Royale type deal the next 3 weeks watching Tanguay, Dickerson, and Big O go head-to-head leading into Week 1 of the Pats. I'm not a huge Dickerson fan, but I can't deny that he was a good facilitator with Lou and Christian last week. I think the benefits to each are quantifiable:
Tanguay - look at twitter this morning. When did MFB ever get that type of cross-platform participation? Gary's contrarian shtick, albiet manufactured, seems to bring some very *unique* internet-comments out of the woodwork. Everyone loves a whipping boy.
Dickerson - was comfortable and professional with MF last week, seems to know when to get out of the way with these two, much the way he does on the Sunday Football show with Price. Has a propensity to go off-script, which definitely will turn some dials.
Big O - legend. This dude invented the game for EEI, and probably does deserve the first shot at showing he can bring out M and F's strengths while facilitating good discussion and guiding the ship, as we know he can. The biggest flaw with the Big Show over time was the format just lent itself to the same crew getting together and yelling over eachother. That doesn't mean the Big O can't produce great radio. We know he'll at least produce good advertising revenue, despite the difficulty he had with Unfiltered.
