Andrew Miller has agreed to a 4-year, $36 million deal with the Yankees, according to source involved in negotiations.

well, was hoping that if they got him they'd have to pay him $40MM plus. based on some of the predictions/discussion, the deal is better for them than expected. But it's still a lot of years and $ for a relief pitcher. a great one the last few years of course, but still not sure I'd love this deal if the Red Sox had the chance to make itRudy Pemberton said:Funny how that happens, guys always sign with the Yankees despite better offers elsewhere.
Good luck to the Yankees on this one, think this will be a mistake, although I know many disagree.

I think it's plausible he had a better offer but without closing potential, or for a rebuilding team. But then I recall the horseshit they trotted out about Teixeira's wife liking the shopping better or something. So yeah.Rudy Pemberton said:Funny how that happens, guys always sign with the Yankees despite better offers elsewhere.

Over 40% of the value he's generated in his career came last year (despite it accounting for only 12% of his career IP). Arthur Rhodes is a pretty good comp; and if he follows that career path he'll be worth it. I'm skeptical, and if he's just replacing Robertson it's difficult to see how much it helps the MFY...although Betances - Miller - Warren has the potential to be a pretty fantastic back of the pen.

He was joking about how it seems they like to protectively claim that they weren't actually the team that made the biggest offer.DrewDawg said:
I thought the Yankees MO was to blow everyone out of the water?

@Buster_ESPN: Sources: If Robertson's asking price drops, Yankees ready to talk. If not, they'll move on with the bullpen group they have
jon abbey said:I still wouldn't be surprised with Robertson coming back also and NY trying to emulate the KC bullpen model. Nice signing, though, I'm a fan.
Correct, he was traded midseason.Wingack said:No loss of a pick here right?

http://www.masslive.com/redsox/index.ssf/2014/12/yankees_strike_back_andrew_mil.html#incart_social_featureThe Red Sox were in it until the end as one of the final three teams, extending Miller a very competitive four-year offer that Miller strongly considered, according to a source.

You think Houston would offer him more money than the Yankees?
Seems like a fair deal to me, good signing for the Yankees.
Sampo Gida said:This is much less than I expected him to sign for. Only question is if he can sustain his last years numbers and keep the walks down, instead of at 4.5 BB/9 like he was in 2012-2013. Now if they sign D-Rob, that will be some pen, but thats unlikely
