21) New England Patriots: Drake London, WR, USC
A bully at the catch point and an elite runner with the football in his hands, Drake London is the top yards-after-the-catch threat in this draft. Despite his injury sustained midway through the season, London comfortably led the Pac-12 in receiving yards. The New England Patriots grab a true No. 1 receiver for Mac Jones to throw to for the next decade.

21. George Karlaftis, Edge, Purdue
Karlaftis is NFL strong with a nice arsenal of pass-rush moves. The Patriots got great returns on the Matthew Judon signing but need more juice around the corner.

21. New England Patriots: Drake London, WR, USC
Drafting early-round wide receivers has been more miss than hit for Bill Belichick, but London is a top-15 talent who should elevate to the WR1 role early in his career for the Patriots. A former USC basketball player, the 6' 5" wideout uses his large frame and wide catch radius to dominate at the catch point.

28. George Pickens, WR, Georgia (after trading down with GB)
Pickens has an elite skill set as an outside playmaker and proved his work ethic coming back from a torn ACL in the spring to be a factor in the late stages of the Bulldogs' title run. He's worth the investment at this point of the first round.

21. Devin Lloyd, LB, Utah
Dont'a Hightower and Kyle Van Noy will both be 32 during the 2022 season. Bill Belichick may want a young linebacker. Devin Lloyd can be used outside or inside in a 3-4 (or at linebacker in the 4-3), as he's an athletic defender who has impressed as both a pass rusher and a coverage linebacker this year.

21. Jordan Davis, DT, Georgia
If anyone knows the value of a dominant nose tackle, it’s Bill Belichick, who watched Vince Wilfork set the tone for his best units throughout the Patriots’ dynasty. Davis has the size, athleticism and power to make a similar impact for the Pats in this generation.

21. Jermaine Johnson, DE, Florida State
The 6-foot-5 defender started his college career at a community college in Kansas. A stint at Georgia followed, before the transfer portal brought him to Florida State where a 2021 breakout season saw him record 11.5 sacks and 70 total tackles. ESPN's Scouts Inc. considers Johnson the third-best defensive end in the draft pool.
So the mocks have NE taking either a WR or a defensive player (D-line in particular) with their first round pick.
