If not at T, then certainly as the TE on the left side much more often.JohnnyTheBone said:Michael Williams is listed as a Tight End on the Patriots website, but he played Tackle with Detroit, and they seemed to like him there. Perhaps he's in the mix?
He may not have known that it was torn at the time, quite honestlyjsinger121 said:Interesting that he would talk to the media after Sunday's game. Usually players that are hurt do not talk.

No resisted lifting for three months, no uncontrolled loading (trying to grab someone running by you at high speed) for six months, so he's done regardlessRIrooter09 said:
How long is the recovery for this injury normally? Could he have been an IR-DTR candidate if not for Stork taking his spot?
I'm not sure what "torn biceps" technially means, but I ruptured my distal biceps tendon and wasn't diagnosed by an initial x-ray or physical exam (it was clear on the MRI I had though). It was a weird injury, not painful and I could still move my arm just fine, just with a pretty severe loss of strength. The post-surgery healing and recovery was painfully slow though, about 5-6 months before I could resume working out normally again.jsinger121 said:Interesting that he would talk to the media after Sunday's game. I'd be shocked if this didn't happen. Vollmer at LT, Cannon at RT moving forward.Ed Hillel said:So does Vollmer move over? This is a big blow, but that's the NFL. The matchup this really could alter is with Denver, as I think their only chance is to get to Brady on the edges and they have the goods to do it.
I'd be surprised if it did. Vollmer hasn't played LT since what, 2009? Cannon has played more RT than LT but has been sprinkled in on the left side throughout.Byrdbrain said:I'd be shocked if this didn't happen. Vollmer at LT, Cannon at RT moving forward.
A tackle punches the defender so having a torn bicep is going to affect him in that area. I think he'll come back good as new.gryoung said:Ted Johnson had one (and maybe two) of these type injuries. I don't think he was ever the same player, but he was playing a linebacker position where reaching out and grabbing a fast-moving train happens more than in the offensive line.

Not if you're Ray LewisRedOctober3829 said:Torn bicep is a gone for the year injury. IR-DTR wouldn't have helped him.
Next man up.
Thinness at OL is the same boat as most every team, many of whom don't even have a relatively high pedigree, relatively experienced swing T with G experience like Cannon at the ready to plug in. Doesn't Sunday show that he is not a terrible fit, playing the second half and allowing a lot less pass rush destruction than they suffered earlier?Morgan's Magic Snowplow said:

I'm not that worried about the drop off from Solder to Cannon. What is really scary is that we're now one injury away from serious trouble.

In my case, the tendon attached to the biceps near the elbow tore away from the bone (the muscle itself was OK). I've had two tendon ruptures (other was Achilles) and both took a long time to heal. I do wonder how many actual torn biceps muscles DaveRoberts'Shoes has come across and if that healing process is different though?Marciano490 said:Is this longer than other tears? I tore a pec and was back in 2 months, though the ortho said I was lucky that it was just muscle tearing from muscle as opposed to off the joint or tendon, which would've required much more convalescence. Biceps never tear down the middle, but always from the joint?
Cam Flemming is on the practice squad and was a decent enough RT in limited action last year. I doubt anyone out there at this point is markedly better.j44thor said:Solder is a loss they can manage. The bigger issue is they are now relying on Vollmer to last the season which I wouldn't take odds on.
If they lose Vollmer or Cannon they could be in trouble. Who is out there that they might be able to bring in as depth? Doubt they can trade for a starting T but Cannon insurance should be obtainable.
Which LTs would you prefer to Solder over the past 2 years?Seels said:No injury is good but it's not as if Solder has been good this year or the last two. As far as injuries they can manage among starters I'd put this pretty close to the top.

He makes a few boneheaded mistakes every season but he's solid to excellent outside those plays.
That's true, but he did workout at guard for a stretch recently, so I think he'd be flexible enough to move across the line I'd needed. I really hate the idea of Cannon on Brady's blindside. He may get Brady killed.Super Nomario said:I'd be surprised if it did. Vollmer hasn't played LT since what, 2009? This is where I am. Solder has been solid but a bit of a disappointment, given his pedigree and draft status. Even considering the various effects his cancer treatment brought to the table, I found his play in 2014 to be pretty inconsistent. The drop-off from Solder-Vollmer to Vollmer-Cannon isn't gigantic or anything but this will certainly test the team's tackle depth. I too wonder if Cam Fleming will get the call from the P.S.j44thor said:Solder is a loss they can manage.
