Love's incredibly efficient 19 points and 10 boards on 12 shots is definitely the reason their offense has been bad tonight.moly99 said:Cavs currently down 80-69 vs Portland in the beginning of the 4th. Blacken said:The Blazers are definitely in that no-man's-land of "need one more guy". Lillard and LMA are so great, but aren't enough to go over the top. Nic Batum is very quietly almost there, and on a good day he is, but not consistently.
The first 30 games are their exhibition season. I wouldn't bother over analyzing the Cavs right now. We've seen this movie before with both successful and unsuccessful results. They will be fine long term.moly99 said:Cavs currently down 80-69 vs Portland in the beginning of the 4th. They are not working together on offense or defense, led by an awful 2-12 effort by Kyrie. EDIT: Cavs fall 101-82. They will improve on offense, but I'm not so sure about their defense. Portland couldn't find their 3 point range and still hit 49.3% overall. Until Love, Dion Waiters and Kyrie decide to start playing defense I'm not going to buy into this team being a good defensively.
zenter said:Sure, Love and Kyrie are used to "freelancing", but they also had basically no choice. Give them time to adapt. KG/Pierce/Allen is the exception, not the rule.

HomeRunBaker said:The Clippers problem is that outside of their top tier of players they are severely lacking in talent. This is not a deep team at all. Aside from last night they are pretty much playing to their ability.......Blake is playing out of his mind, Crawford has been on fire, Paul is Paul, DeAndre does what DeAndre does and the bench is godawful.
One or more of their top guys go down the Celtics will have two lottery picks this summer. I love Doc but I'm watching to root for whoever they are going up against each night. This is not a 56-57 win team as their record showed the past two years......they were big overachievers while staying relatively healthy. We could be the beneficiary of the Clips regressing to their mean this year.
I have little expectations that the Clippers will implode this year so anything resembling such will be a great surprise. I'm actually enjoying the beginning of the Nets demise which I went on record two summers ago as being very excited about. It is going precisely as planned.....just keep on doing what you're doing. Stars age, Lopez done early, lose what I feel was a tremendous asset in Kidd. Stay the course Brooklyn.....stay the course.Jed Zeppelin said:
Rooting for another team to suck is a truly exhilirating and frustrating experience. Did it two years in a row as a Bruins fan rooting against the terrible Maple Leafs. Ignoring any potential trades, at the end of this run we'll be doing this for five years in a row. Amazing.
Have to disagree. The stats look great but outside of DJ and Crawford, the other guys you've listed have been inconsistent. Defensively, i dont know how paul and blake keep skating by the media but they are shit. Paul talks and shows a good game on that end but he is shit when it comes to doing his job on that end, guarding the point guard. He's too slow. Blake, abysmal, he doesnt even give the effort where i can say he's shit. He's just a ghost on that end.HomeRunBaker said:The Clippers problem is that outside of their top tier of players they are severely lacking in talent. This is not a deep team at all. Blake hit a 3 the other night so he's getting there. Like all other offensive stars who are asked to carry the load they have to pick their spots defensively. We had seen this for years with Pierce, Ray Allen went through same in Seattle, Kobe in LA, Love in Minny, etc. The Clips lack of depth offensively is a primary cause of their poor defense.ElUno20 said:Have to disagree. It isnt a new development though. Doc will right the regular season ship but no team that plays defense the way they do will ever do anything when it counts. And i love the clippers but thats the truth.
Last thought, blake has added the worst possible shot to his game, the long 2, lets see how long his dumbass takes to realizes he should be shooting 3s instead.
Well, Burke had a good game, too, but he got into a little foul trouble early, so I am guessing that's why Exum got him minutes.jschip1 said:I was surprised to see that Exum played more minutes that Burke last night but I'm not disappointed. He didn't fill up the stat line but he also didn't look like the game was moving to fast for him. And he's such a dynamic athelete that it wouldn't surprise me to see Exum start in front of Burke by the time the season is over. And yeah, Favors looks like he's made big progress as well. I know it's only a handful of games and difficult times are ahead, but I think this team will surprise some people.
Kyrie had something to say as well with 32/9/5.ifmanis5 said:LeBron with a 31-11-10 statement game tonight. Not yet, Brow.
I feel dirty every time I think about a Chris Paul injury derailing their season. But if he misses a 30 game chunk of the Clipshow's season I would get over the guilt.HomeRunBaker said:The Clippers problem is that outside of their top tier of players they are severely lacking in talent. Agreed. I'm having trouble seeing who might be available at a decent price who could fit into that hole. Like, Barnes/Farmar for Pierce works (and warms my withered Paul Pierce fan heart), but I don't know if they can shovel enough picks to make Washington take that hit. I think Philly's going to move K.J. McDaniels before he gets paid (and paid and paid), but I don't think the Clips have anything that they'd want either.ElUno20 said:If the clipps dont trade for a legit wing who can gun, they're out in the first round.

What an awesome strategy! Embarrassing to the city and the league. They should be relocated to London.Kliq said:76ers trailing 73-29 at halftime. Tanking isn't an issue though.
