you come to tell me that none of the 5 Celtics 2nd rounders could have landed Meeks? James Young + 2nd for Meeks?
It's about payroll flexibility. He costs over $6 million against the cap and Ainge wants to hold all secondary moves off so he can fit max contracts under the cap.

Yes.They can still renounce the RFA offers at any time, correct?
why would they want him?

Even with all the hype of the expanding cap, I have incredibly underestimated what Silly Season will look like.Joakim Noah has a 12:01 meeting set Friday with the Knicks and is expected to sign a deal around $18M per year.
Doesn't it depend on the years? A 1 year overpay to Noah to give him a chance to re-establish his value before next year's cap jump makes a lot of sense.Even with all the hype of the expanding cap, I have incredibly underestimated what Silly Season will look like.
He is probably not signing the minute free agency starts for one yearDoesn't it depend on the years? A 1 year overpay to Noah to give him a chance to re-establish his value before next year's cap jump makes a lot of sense.
Do we really think free agency starts at 12:01 tomorrow night? Or do we think agents and players and teams have been talking for the last 3 months? I know which one I think. He is probably not signing the minute free agency starts for one year
Teams are all on plan A right now. Some players may have decided but most have not. Teams losing out on plan A will have a lot of money. More so this year than ever before. If Noah signs a one year deal for $18M tonight he's an idiot.Do we really think free agency starts at 12:01 tomorrow night? Players and agents have a strong sense of their market at this point. If that's the sort of deal Noah feels is the best fit for him, I can certainly see the appeal of signing for a lot of money with his hometown team, and being in a situation where he'll start.
With another cap jump next season, and a better free agent class, there will be a lot of teams for whom Plan A is to overpay players on short-term deals to avoid longterm commitments.Teams are all on plan A right now. I don't disagree with this. If you think Noah is signing a one year deal right away, that's great. I highly doubt it.With another cap jump next season, and a better free agent class, there will be a lot of team's for whom Plan A is to overpay players on short-term deals to avoid longterm commitments.
Yeah, that may be the team's plan, but I doubt Noah is going to go for that 1 minute into FA.With another cap jump next season, and a better free agent class, there will be a lot of teams for whom Plan A is to overpay players on short-term deals to avoid longterm commitments.
Good for him. We went to the same college (to which he was barely recruited) and I saw him when he was a freshman and could barely handle the ball. He went undrafted and worked at it. He's a good guy.Lowe just said that teams think it's going to take $20M a year to get Bazemore.
@ShamsCharania: Sources on @TheVertical: DeMar DeRozan, Toronto Raptors reach agreement on five-year, $139M-plus deal.
@WojVerticalNBA: Sources: Free agent guard Eric Gordon has emerged as Knicks' top perimeter target. Sides starting to discuss parameters of a possible deal.
I met his agent's wife at the draft. She knew a monster payday was coming and was in great spirits.Charlotte sign Batum to 5 year/$120m deal
Okafor was 76th. Hibbert was 74th, Mozgov was 75th, and there was a pretty big gap between the two. So not even an upgrade, but at least Moz will have fun in LA!So just reading that Hibbert in LA was the 76 out of 76 centers in RPM and 75th was Mozgov. So... upgrade?!
The reason you haven't seen him much is because he never plays.I haven't seen mozgov much and I was ready for some big deals but really? On day 1? What do people think of him?
Mozgoz is a 7'1, 275# NBA player that averaged 4 rebounds more per game than I did last year. The reason you haven't seen him much is because he never plays.
The guy he replaced apparently does not agree...The Lin contact is totally sensible.
