Before tonight, Durant was averaging 33 ppg, with 9 boards, 5 assists and 2.3 blocks in this series. He is playing just fine, he just had a rough night tonight, but in the end, he helped his team win. That sounds like an MVP to me.

What are you, his agent? Again, I love the guy, but they lost two out of three of those games and he was taking 27 shots per game to put up those 33 PPG, his FG% is now under 40 percent for the series (his average game has been 10 for 25).

No one is questioning his status as the second best player in the game, but he also seems to avoid all criticism, and he laid a giant egg tonight. He will have at least two more chances to make this one a distant memory, we'll see. As of now, he's come up small when it counts in a year where it looked like he had possibly moved onto LeBron's level.

I will give him credit for playing very good D tonight, as did the entire OKC team. But when you're trying to make the jump from the second best player in the game to possibly the best, the standards are exceedingly high.

Give Tony Allen a lot of credit, he was an absolute menace. That was one of the better defensive games from a wing player that I can remember

If the Spurs only knew about that shot and his roughly 5000 career 3p attempts, this shot never happens. Bad work from Pop...Since he received his Coach of the Year trophy, he is getting lazy!

Definitely, and Gasol lurking inside makes it even harder, but Durant missed a bunch of fairly open looks also. He didn't even look good at the line, 4-6 and those weren't all his normal swishes either.

I think what's more likely is that Durant is a bit worn down from doing so much/having to do so much all season, but there shouldn't be any excuses for MVP level players.

Washington with a good chance to make the Conference Finals assuming they close this one out (up 18 in the 3rd), I doubt they'd win more than 1 game against any of the 8 Western playoff teams.

Silver really has a great situation with the Association (ex-Sterling).  There are a bunch of ascendent teams including the Wizards, the Blazers, Phoenix, Golden State and Toronto with exciting young stars and re-energized fan-bases.   And its only a matter of time before the old guard teams - the Lakers and the C's join their ranks.

What the hell is Chris Paul doing?  He's lazily tossing the ball around and the Warriors are just picking them off one after another.  He's singlehandedly giving the game away, and of course, Curry is taking full advantage.  WOW.

Looks like he only touched his arm.

EDIT: Wrong hits his head. Still, Javie's explanation is troubling.

Technically, Coach Jackson, you'd have a date at the Staples Center on Tuesday no matter the outcome of this one.

The Warriors made a great adjustment, starting Draymond Green at the four and moving David Lee to the five (they had been starting Jermaine O'Neal at the five with Lee at his usual four).   This did two things - first it allowed Golden State to take Lee off of Blake Griffin.   Griffin has pretty much made Lee his bitch this series whereas Green, who is a good defender, has slowed him down here and there.

In addition, when the Warriors go with that line-up, they are able to draw Griffin and Jordan out of the paint and to the perimeter.  The floor spacing opens up and then they are able to drive to the rim or kick out to one of four guys who can bury it from the outside.  Its no coincidence that Curry had his best game of the series today.  It will be interesting to see how the Clippers respond on Tuesday.  You also have to wonder if the events of this weekend are weighing on them.

What the fuck was that first half in Brooklyn?

Jesus titty-fucking Christ is this a strange game.

Nets are now 3.5 games into this series and have yet to shoot well.

Yet somehow they destroy the last 5 mins of the half and are only down 7.

I cannot handle these games like this

They didn't really, Chicago didn't get it under 10 until the last couple of minutes and even then no closer than 8. Thibodeau is seeing yet again that other teams can match his team's intensity much more in the playoffs than they do consistently in the regular season.

Raptors come up HUGE down the stretch on the road - something I wasn't sure they could do. Brooklyn now in trouble in this series.

Or alternatively, the Nets were really really really soft last year.

As I ve also said I think that with playoff rotations being shorter (plus the smart pickup of Professor Miller, plus some other people returning from injuries) Washington has become a become a better team.
