Yeah, this makes zero sense from their end. Holiday would be a great shooting option off the bench for the C's but this is a pipe dream.Wait, why are the Pacers trading a depth piece to the Celtics?
You won't rest until Hayward is gone from Boston, will you?I like that tweet, sets up a summer three way nicely with Hayward moving on to the Bay Area and Mr. DARcy heading off to Monosodium Glutamate while the Knicks send Danny the picks that turn into Jalen Johnson and Emoni Bates...
With the rise of the Jays and Kemba’s salary, it’s when, not if. Nighthob correctly wants the best return, which is probably a S&T this summer. You won't rest until Hayward is gone from Boston, will you?
(I kid. Kind of.)
So they add Iggy, which helps their defense and hurts their spacing. I’m still not scared of Miami—the Celtics have physically dominated them twice now.Woj on Sportcenter: Gallinari deal with Heat fell apart.
And yet here's not even a hint of a rumor about the Celts with less that 3 hours to the deadline.I would kill to have Bertans on the Celtics, he would be a perfect fit.
Danny has to do something today. The Heat got a lot better, the Sixers got the bench help they needed, the Raps are really frikkin good & the Pacers just got oladipo back. Not to mention the Bucks are insane.
A scorer to help our horrendous bench is a must unless the goal is just to make the playoffs. This team could easily go out in round 1, but with a little bench help could get to east finals. Come on Danny!!
I keep telling people, when he goes it's going to happen because he's opting out and Boston isn't going to carry three max guys and one near max guy on the roster. He's leaving this summer and everyone needs to prepare themselves for the day. But Boston's best case scenario is that he decides that he wants to join the Warriors because that's a sign & trade scenario that has some promise for them. Over the much worse LA or Miami scenarios. You won't rest until Hayward is gone from Boston, will you?
(I kid. Kind of.)
Boston won't be beating the Bucks this year, so it's important that they ensure themselves a 2/3 seed and a second round matchup with Miami. Because I still can't see this Heat squad getting past Boston.I would kill to have Bertans on the Celtics, he would be a perfect fit.

Indeed. It's quiet ... to quiet.Last year, IIRC, there were all sorts of rumors that the Celtics were trying to pull off something big ... and it never materialized.
This year, not a peep ... hmmm
If Hayward were 26, I'd agree. The age gap and potential for Brown to improve further on both ends is too big for Hayward to overcome though.I may be somewhat alone in this thinking, but I would prefer to keep Hayward over Brown, especially considering that Brown would fetch more this summer in a trade. In fact, I have amazing dreams of a Jaylen + TL + Langford + MEM pick for KAT
I could be wrong, but I think the idea is that if Hayward finishes the season strong and chooses to opt out, he'll be in high demand given how slim the free agent pickings are this summer. In that scenario, Ainge might see a sign and trade for other assets/rotation players as preferable, given how difficult it is for them to improve/tweak the roster with how locked in the C's are to their top 5 guys. Can the Celtics not afford to keep Hayward/Brown/Tatum/Kemba/Smart? I was under the impression they could go over the cap and it is up to ownership. Why do people assume one has to go?
Anything you want from MIN (including picks) outside of Towns, or anything you want from NYK (including picks) outside of Barrett and probably MitchRob.They can. They will eventually have to pay some tax and there are minor cap issues with exemptions and stuff. But they can keep them all.
When Hayward opts our, what would we get from GSW in a s&t?
FWIW, they can keep them all. The question is, how successful can a team be if their top 5 guys can't be on the court together? Post FIBA, there was some talk of whether we might see Stevens play small at times this season with Tatum/Brown defending less physical centers. As far as I can tell, Brad has played the small ball Kemba/Smart/Jaylen/Hayward/Tatum lineup for a whopping 13 minutes together this season. They can. They will eventually have to pay some tax and there are minor cap issues with exemptions and stuff. But they can keep them all.

Woof. If they turn Wiggins into a winner, Golden State will be megaparsecs ahead, not light years.
Holy shit. A lot depends on the protections, but that seems like not what SRN was expecting to get for his TS% binkie Wiggins is a pretty negative asset.
Hayward might be in high demand but unless he all of sudden decides it's all about the money, he's not going to want to play for all but a couple of teams.I could be wrong, but I think the idea is that if Hayward finishes the season strong and chooses to opt out, he'll be in high demand given how slim the free agent pickings are this summer. KOC (sorry to hear about your Dad Kevin) on how Wiggins might be salvageable, an article with an interesting title given PSB's post above: https://www.theringer.com/nba/2020/2/4/21123496/andrew-wiggins-trade-golden-state-warriors-dangelo-russellWoof. Are we sure that Jae Crowder is good anymore? His game has declined in pretty much every conceivable way over the past few years.Crowder is a bigger add than Iggy at this point.
Looks like Randolph and Mortimer are desperately trying to reset the luxury tax offenses, just like Red Sox. Only GSW didn't have to trade Curry to do it. :-(Looks like Randolph and Mortimer are cornering the market on 2nd round picks.
Damn. I didn't steal this from him consciously, but may have absorbed it accidentally during some sleepless 4 am trade rumor hunting, not sure when he published. Or maybe KOC and I just both googled "what is bigger than a light year" when the delicious irony of Lacob's quote in light of acquiring Wiggins sank in.KOC (sorry to hear about your Dad Kevin) on how Wiggins might be salvageable, an article with an interesting title given PSB's post above: https://www.theringer.com/nba/2020/2/4/21123496/andrew-wiggins-trade-golden-state-warriors-dangelo-russell
Never liked Waiters as a player but he could create his own shot (whether that shot went in is another thing), which is more than one could say for most of the rest of the MIA roster (other than Buckets and maybe Bam against the right matchup). MIA reminds me of IND last year - great star; great supporting cast; plays super hard; and will therefore beat most teams on most nights. The Heat got a lot better, the Sixers got the bench help they needed,

May be a worse contract but with the trade GSW manages to get under the salary cap. View: https://twitter.com/anthonyVslater/status/1225484028926660608GSW is firmly in bottom 10 FO contention right now, and investigating whether a spot in the top 5 may be available.
I never believe GSW would get a good asset for Russell, but I didn't expect them to get a worse contract back.
Yes. Time to make a run.KOC says the price for Bertans is 2 1st round picks. Would anyone part with the C's and the Bucks picks for him?
Agreed. I expected the cost a D-Lo/Wiggins swap to be multiple firsts going to GSW, given how negative an asset he is. Even if we don't think D-Lo was a positive asset, MN clearly did.GSW is firmly in bottom 10 FO contention right now, and investigating whether a spot in the top 5 may be available.

Only if ownership will go into the tax to pay to keep him. Otherwise, I want no part of giving up assets for a rental.KOC says the price for Bertans is 2 1st round picks. Would anyone part with the C's and the Bucks picks for him?
I have a hard time seeing either Crowder or Igoudala as a real difference maker at this point. Trading Winslow for them seems like a panic move. Are we sure that Jae Crowder is good anymore? His game has declined in pretty much every conceivable way over the past few years.
Agree. I don't think this team really needs two more late firsts on top of the Memphis pick.Yes. Time to make a run.
How many more young players does this team need? They have 3 1st rounders plus Williams/Edwards/Waters/Langford/Fall on a team that has 5 of it's top 6 players locked in for a while provided they do extend Tatum.Only if ownership will go into the tax to pay to keep him. Okay, but you can dump those contracts on their own. Spellman in particular had shown signs of life. Neither guy was making anything.May be a worse contract but with the trade GSW manages to get under the salary cap.
