Yup, it's really tough to win a championship. Cal has 1 in 7 seasons at Kentucky. Coach K has 5 in 36 seasons at Duke. That's about the same rate. And Coach K is the greatest coach outside of Wooden. And, yet, they have only won once. They really should have had a few. But it's tough to win the tourney.
Baylor doesn't put players in the pros like Kentucky does.NCAA isn't the NBA though. You must develop a united team to advance in March otherwise you end up like Baylor every year. The job he did with the James Young team blew my mind from where they were in November. Final Fours are typically littered with overachieving seniors and not freshman in their first go around.
It's either arrogance or stubbornness to not play zone against this Providence team but I'm not complaining. Absolutely fuckin giddy right now with what I'm watching. Thank you Roy!!UNC sucks against Catholic schools
It has been a great tourney for the Catholic schools -- their only loss was the one game that pitted two Catholic schools against each other (Seton Hall - Gonzaga).UNC sucks against Catholic schools
Huh?It's either arrogance or stubbornness to not play zone against this Providence team but I'm not complaining. Absolutely fuckin giddy right now with what I'm watching. Thank you Roy!!
Bentil must think he's Draymond Green or something. It's either arrogance or stubbornness to not play zone against this Providence team but I'm not complaining. Absolutely fuckin giddy right now with what I'm watching. Thank you Roy!!
The Friars destroyed M2M the first dozen games of the season and struggled badly against zones once conference play began when teams scouted us in advance. We have a ton of offensive talent that can take advantage of M2M while zones force our offense to be stagnant and eliminates dribble penetration.Huh?
The more talented team should almost always play M2M, especially when they don't regularly play zone D.
48 hours (or even a week) isn't enough time to implement an effective zone. The Friars destroyed M2M the first dozen games of the season and struggled badly against zones once conference play began when teams scouted us in advance. That is only one persons fault for not having his team best prepared. Practice began on October 15. I just wish we'd take advantage of these opportunities being gifted to us like Bentil losing the ball going up for a dunk. Wtf.48 hours (or even a week) isn't enough time to implement an effective zone.
Would be funny if this of all teams is the one that makes the FF. Zags have to like their path. Get winner of Cuse/MTSU and then a tough but winnable matchup against UVA/Iowa State.Wibi must need a bucket and mop by now to clean up his mess.
It could very well be that Roy has it in his arsenal to only show the zone in the second half or down the stretch when it can change the pace and lock us down. I don't know all I know is that pretty much the only chance we have to win is against M2M and Roy is giving it to us. Now knock down some damn 3's and take the lead damnit!!!Every team needs to have zone in its toolkit these days. I don't know UNC well enough to know if their personnel allows for it, but if you have long players you should be able to practice it enough from time to time to use it in a pinch.
MSU's loss really blows the bottom half of that bracket open; three of the remaining four teams (not MTSU) in that bottom half feel like they can make the round of 8.Would be funny if this of all teams is the one that makes the FF. Zags have to like their path. Get winner of Cuse/MTSU and then a tough but winnable matchup against UVA/Iowa State.
Not to be snarky, but yes. Xavier runs it.By the way, I'm not knocking zone D at all. Can you imagine that Holy Cross 1-3-1 run by a team with actual athletes?? But you've got to commit to that early in the season, at least part-time. UNC has had a hell of a season playing M2M almost exclusively (I think); they're right not to depart from that now.
This erection will last longer than 4 hours. I dont think anyone expected this game from Gonzaga on both ends of the court. Their D is strong and their guard play is amazing.Wibi must need a bucket and mop by now to clean up his mess.
Xavier is key to my bracket -- got them going to the final (losing there to KU). Seriously underrated team. Not to be snarky, but yes. Xavier runs it.
We actually play a fairly decent zone, although not often and it is a trapping zone which Providence may be able to take advantage of with the speed of Dunn and whoever his fast back-up is that played most of the half. That is only one persons fault for not having his team best prepared. Practice began on October 15. I just wish we'd take advantage of these opportunities being gifted to us like Bentil losing the ball going up for a dunk. Wtf.
My Saboner is strong right now. The Zags held Seton Hall and Utah to under 60 point each. This erection will last longer than 4 hours. I dont think anyone expected this game from Gonzaga on both ends of the court. Their D is strong and their guard play is amazing.
That suggests RW makes good halftime adjustments. Doesn't surprise me.We actually play a fairly decent zone, although not often and it is a trapping zone which Providence may be able to take advantage of with the speed of Dunn and whoever his fast back-up is that played most of the half.
I don't think Roy Williams made a tactical mistake and am reasonably pleased with where they are at. Our M.O. is to make a run in the beginning of the second half---we'll see if Providence can withstand it.

Hey, I'm rooting for the upset. I'm just reacting to what Drocca said; it sounds like UNC has been a well-coached team throughout the season -- which is kind of a "no shit" statement for a #1 seed.????
Providence came out with an 8-0 run and took the lead.
Dude, it's a game thread. We're good.????

Edit: I misread the intent of your post. Thought you meant today he made a great adjustment.
Apologize in advance if I get snarky at all. I'm emotional and need tablet on me or I'll be jumping through roof. Thanks for understanding.
I'm actually frustrated as hell with us missing so many scoring opportunities and Bad Lindsey showing up tonight. We have to knock down these shots.Hey, I'm rooting for the upset. PC looks great tonight. You must be psyched.
Former BC assistant and people there always told me it was a skin condition.I'm sure someone covered this upthread, but what's with the PC coach's hair? I don't want to make fun of him (assuming he doesn't wear his hair that way by choice), but does anyone know the backstory?

Absolutely. Enormous.Great job by Bryce getting their two best players their 4th fouls on back to back possessions.
Yeah, I didn't see that foul either. I guess it's a good thing I'm not a ref. What a weak foul call there on Bentil
