Five reasons why are Newcastle buying

4. Agents are desperate to do business with Newcastle
Newcastle have become adept players of the transfer market recently. They speak to the right people, make the right contacts and are consistently in the right place at the right time when it comes to deals in France and Holland.
They work with a tight circle of super-agents in both countries and guarantee them business. It is worth noting that Siem De Jong arrives via Louis Laros: the same representative who brought brother Luuk to the club.
And look at Mondial Sports Managament, who count Moussa Sissoko, Mathieu Debuchy and Yohan Cabaye among their clients. They also have Cabella. It really is a contacts game.

This is the 2014 "Members Kit," worn in the recent friendly against Real Sociedad for the one and only time this season:

Love it.  Too bad it will only be available to people who pay to become "members."

That's right up there with KOJISOON.gif as my favorite meme of all time.

Toon scored 2.5 mil pounds for Forster going to Southampton from Celtic, so that's pretty rad.

What?  That's only 30 points off his statement about trying to challenge for Champion's League earlier this summer...

When will we finally be rid of this clown?

Not until 2020, when the ludicrous 8-year contract extension he signed two years ago finally expires.

Well what do you expect them to say? We are going to win the league? They are clearly outside the top 6+ teams, so the goal is don't screw up.
You can't expect them to drive UP expectations in Newcastle, they are always silly high anyway.

Given they didn't use the headbutting incident to get rid of him, I would expect him to be here for that contract yup. He's better than I thought, and a lot better than I feared.  Which admittedly was a low bar. Having nearly got relegated with Tevez and co at West Ham, and totally losing the team, I was expecting Kinnear level fail.

From what I can gather, Ashley is beyond OK with 7-10th each and every year.  I certainly think Pardew can deliver that over the life of his contract.  Every headbutt is attention deflected away from the owner- it's a match made in heaven.

He's going to need more of that this year
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/zero-hour-contracts-mike-ashleys-sports-direct-accused-using-unfair-exclusivity-clause-1460721

The sportswear retailer, owned by billionaire Mike Ashley, employs around 20,000 workers on controversial zero hour contracts, which offer no guarantee of working hours from week to week.

These contracts guarantee you zero hours, but prevent you from having any other job without authorization (seeking which can lead to termination)

IF you were wondering why the team tended towards being cheap....

But Pardew is the one that was talking about challenging for Champion's League earlier this preseason.  My point is "shut the fuck up, Pardew," not that that will ever happen.  Why even throw a points total out there?  It's stupid, especially when it's a point less than last season - you know, when our second half form was relegation level.

I know, I know.  I shouldn't expect any better, but I've got to vent somewhere and there is a distinct lack of Newcastle supporters here in Chicago.

City's bench cost 3 times Newcastle's starting 11.

Only got to see the first 20 min- aside from the scoreline, how did they look?

Others may disagree, but I thought they looked pretty good, at least until the finish.

They got off to a slow start but around the 20 minute mark they started to perk up a bit. Throughout the match I thought they looked to get on the counter quick and were great at getting the ball down into scoring position, they just never were able to finish. They need a go-to striker to finish for them and I am not sure the right guy is currently on this roster.

Aarons and Perez both looked good in their limited action. Perez really had a chance to equalize in his first few minutes on the pitch.

In all I am not too down about this start.

Yes it wasn't bad, especially without Tiote. I still wish we had some better CBs but otherwise, you could see the bones of a decent team that definitely needs more time together, especially in the last third.

Jesus he looks unprofessional there.

Per Lee Ryder, he dribbled through 4 Reading reserves to punch one past the keeper yesterday.  Of course he won't even get a run out today in the LC at Gillingham.

After that capitulation against Palace and flogging Hatem off to Hull... I'm done with this shit.

No ambition, no drive- nothing.  Decent players here for 2 years before they get sold to more ambitious clubs. Horseshit.

 “Howay the lads.”

God I hope these Pardew rumors are true.

When things look so cheery I like to remember that the people who bought Man City tried to buy Newcastle first, and he said no.
I would rather win without the money flood, but as that's a) impossible b) unlikely

Mike Ashley is willing to listen to offers to sell Newcastle United as he looks to bring an end to a troubled seven-year reign at St James’ Park.

Ashley has become involved in the running of Rangers and is interested in taking complete control. However, he has been prevented from increasing his stake to more than 10 per cent by the Scotland Football Association as he already owns Newcastle.

Uefa rules stipulate the same person cannot own two clubs that might meet each other in European competitions, and while neither Rangers or Newcastle are playing in Europe, they could in the future.

God, that would help Newcastle and Celtic simultaneously. That's pretty much the shoot the moon outcome for me.

In a just released club statement, nufc has banned Luke Edwards and the Telegraph indefinitely as a result of that report.

I mean, I have tried to come up with an alternative answer to the question "What .gif best sums up a sporting club or franchise?" and I cannot find a better answer.

Lots of good natured banter taking place regarding the situation at NUFC but putting things into perspective, Jonas Gutierrez has been diagnosed with testicular cancer and is currently recuperating after treatment

Best wishes to him.

Football weekly Extraaaaaa completely eviscerated Pardew on two counts

1. Jonas, he basically told him to fuck off when Jonas was diagnosed with cancer. Told Jonas to find a new club for a loan, because the club doesn't want him to reach a games-played clause that will kick in a contract extension. He's played 174 games for NUFC, so they guessed the clause is 175 or 200 games played.

2. When Pardew was at West Ham, there was a team dinner. Pardew said he'd have what everyone else was having. Once the plates came out, he noticed that the team photographer had a different, more appetizing plate. Pardew took the photog's plate, and when the photog complained to him, Pardew said "when you are the king, you can do as you please" or something to that effect.

So, we aren't good at football eh?

And maybe this is just newbie stupid but would Tony Pulis make sense as a replacement?

Given that he walked out on Palace because they didn't back him in the transfer market, I'm not sure Mike Ashley would be his first choice as his next boss.

Are you saying they wouldn't have been obligated to pay him if they had shitcanned him after he'd butting Meyler? I don't remember reading that anywhere.

Yes. Gross misconduct.

If there's any kind of suspension, I wonder if Ashley uses it to to try to get out from under Pardew's crazy contract.

Pardew is a disgrace, I hope Ashley uses this as an excuse to sack the fraud.

I think it's pretty much an all time low for a manager in the EPL, totally unprecedented, headbutting...attempting to headbutt , call it what you will. The guy should be banned for the rest of the season....

If Ashley had any sense he should look at the ridiculous contract Pardew is under and find a termination clause for bringing the game into disrepute/gross misconduct. The guy is a twat.

League Cup update: Newcastle smartly conceded a stoppage-time equalizer to Palace about 20 seconds after it was announced that the winner would have to play City in the next round. Might as well go out now.
