Some QB news..

- Jimmy G suffered a concussion and is in the protocol

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38490364/raiders-qb-jimmy-garoppolo-suffered-concussion-snf-loss

- Derek Carr has a sprained AC Joint and is week-to-week

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38490660/saints-derek-carr-sprained-ac-joint-week-week

Pats have the Saints in 2 weeks and then travel to Vegas in 3.
Having the Patriots on the schedule in a couple of weeks seems to be pretty detrimental if you're a QB.

I guess Kyler Murray actually got a few plays in before they got the back up.

Between here and everywhere.
Chandler Jones needs help. Goes on a Twitter rant in the middle of the night. Calls McDaniels a coke head, disparages the Patriots, makes fun of Mark Davis and announces he is retiring.

I just watched the video and man, he is not well.

Has an emotional breakdown at the end talking about Aaron Hernandez, and implies that he didn't kill himself - but that Josh McDaniels had something to do with it.

Really, really bad stuff

This breakdown feels like an amplified version of the one that happened when he was with the Patriots. I wonder if he is supposed to be medicated, or if he has "handlers" that are no longer with him.

Something is wrong with him, and we've seen a few NFL guys go this route. Everson Griffen, Larry Johnson...while it's easy to blame CTE, its scary to think this guy has been struggling with this in clear view for the world to see for several years.

Jon Jones has had legal problems related to drugs and alcohol. He says his issues are tied to anxiety and depression. We don't know their family history; but that is as big a factor as playing high end football or prize fighting. It quickly can become a "Chicken or the Egg?" analysis. I've never heard a peep about Arthur Jones outside of football.

My first thought was Richie Incognito - both struggling to stay in the league towards the end, while clearly having breakdowns that render them incapable of rationality, let alone playing football effectively. Does the NFLPA not have resources who can actively work with players in this situation?

Short of involuntary commitment, resources are difficult to force on people. You have to hope there's still someone out there he *will* listen to before things get worse.

If he wants to play football, an interesting red zone and deep threat for them. Not really much risk attached.
Yup. Nice complement to their speed combo but so much smoke about his attitude and work ethic that this probably won’t lead to much. But no real harm in trying to find out.

Agreed. If he can't make it work in that receiver-friendly offense, he's wasted his career

Lmfao, the Bears traded a first round pick for Claypool, and Miami just acquired him for a 5th round pick swap.

Obviously, if his attitude sucks and he doesn’t want to block, he won’t see the field and will probably be cut.

There was a time when Claypool was a physical vertical threat, and having him be the third WR is just a hilarious luxury to have.

Yup. To E5’s point, if he doesn’t produce with Hill and Waddle opening up small countries of space in the middle of the field, then his career is likely done. You couldn’t pick a better spot if you’re a WR trying to build value.

Claypool sucks - even if you haven’t watched him play or looked at the numbers, you know he does because nobody cites him anymore as a player the Pats should’ve drafted over Kyle Dugger.

Little downside for Miami, though, provided they’re willing to dump him if he becomes a headache and/or bench him if he continues to play horribly.

I think more importantly than speed, Claypool is big, and Miami definitely lacks bigger bodies despite all their speed.

River Cracraft was their best blocking WR and he’s now on the IR for a few weeks. Claypool is probably going to be asked to do a bunch of dirty work at first and earn his touches. If he shows no interest in doing that, he probably sits. If he does, Miami has added a piece they were lacking before.

He has been awful but he was a good player in 2020/2021. I have no idea what is going on with him but there is still physical talent there, especially for a limited role. The key takeaway here is that you can never trust a Domer.

Miami realizes that their issues are on the other side of the ball right?

Like cool, not too much of an acquisition cost, but again, the offense is not going to hold this team back.

Unless there’s a way to swap literally everyone on their defense right now, they’re up shit’s creek.

Miami is playing far below their talent level on defense. The issues are coaching and execution, not guys.

Maybe Ramsey has a Bob Sanders effect on the rest of the defense when he comes back.
