I found it amusing that the St. Louis PP featured Scott Gomez(!), Troy Brouwer and Jay Bouwmeester. Who needs that Tarasenko guy?

Holy shit.  3-on-3 overtime in the NHL might be the greatest rule change ever made in sports.  That was awesome.

The Shark Tank is starting to come together. They lost to the Islanders last night dropping to 3-8-0 since opening the year with 4 wins. There are rumblings that Patrick Marleau is looking for a trade out of town too.

The biggest hurdle for the tank is going to be the shitiness of the Pacific Division.

Canadiens down 3-0 early in the 2nd to the almost as hateful Canucks.

I hope the Canadiens continue to no longer be awesome.

Tampa is broken at the moment. Outshot FLA 39-19 tonight, lose 1-0 on a goal with 21 seconds left in the 3rd. Bad luck tonight, but the Bolts drop to 8-9-3.

Nothing major here, but changes are coming to the All Star game.

The game itself is getting scrapped in favor of a 3-on-3 tournament. There will be three 20 minute games. The teams will be based on divisions, so it'll be Atlantic vs Metro and Central vs. Pacific with the winners playing in the "championship." Apparently winners will receive a cash bonus, so as to entice the players to take it somewhat seriously. I'm sure it'll be half assed by all involved, but at least the league is trying to be creative and find a way to liven up the All Star game.

Makes a lot of sense in that there is less likelihood for injury in the exhibition - less hitting with more open ice in 3 on 3 and really no chance for fatigue if the "games" are only 20 min a piece. Lots of spare time in between games for advertising and whatnot too. I like that the NHL has been playing around with the exhibition format, the other All-Star weekends are tired.
