I wasn't sure if I should have started a preseason game thread when I realized there was a game today, thanks!

On NESN+ for those that get it

I'm torn. I am excited for hockey to be back, and I need it after the last month of watching the Red Sox fall apart.

But it just isn't going to be the same, even though I expect this team will still be competitive due to their defense and goaltending.

Eh, I'm over last season. The expectations and march towards the regular season record was fun, but also a bit exhausting. I'm super excited for this season

There would be something poetic about a 19 year old second round center making the Bs the year after Bergy retired.

Really wanting Bussi to get the shutout. He so deserves it! I suspect that he is our future #2 goalie when Ulmark leaves in 2 years

That was unbelievable. Does goalie Bob work with the minor leaguers as well?
Yes. He’s the goaltending coordinator for the entire organization. There is a day to day goalie coach down in Providence that works under Essensa. It was Mike Dunham, not sure if he’s still there.

I'll be honest. The way last season ended - and the resulting "nah we took a look and decided we did nothing wrong" response - has really soured me on the team. I don't know when I'll get over that butt hurt, but I'm not now.

Still mostly rookies. Both PTOs on the ice. Wonder if the blender will spit out Heinen-Beecher-Topo? [Edit: 3 lefties on same line probably not likely, I was just thinking of a vet and 2 rooks that might be fun on the ice]
Here is the Bruins' roster @ BUF tomorrow:
F: Beecher, Boqvist, Chiasson, Farinacci, Heinen, Kuntar, Lauko, Lucic, McLaughlin, Megna, Merkulov, Steen, Toporowski
D: Brunet, Carlo, Edward, Grzelcyk, Lohrei, Mast, Mitchell
G: DiPietro, Keyser

And here’s how they lined up on the ice this morning. Heinen/Merkulov still paired together.

Beecher and Lauko paired together too. Connor Ryan suggests that if they play well, Lucic could slot in on the left and it’d be a strong 4th line (https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-bruins/2023/09/26/bruins-mason-lohrei-milan-lucic-preseason-sabres-jim-montgomery/).

Boqvist/Megna/Toporowski should be flying. We’ll get to see what McLaughlin and Chiasson look like next to Lucic too.

First look at Lohrei (with steady Carlo on his pair) and Brunet (Mitchell gets a 2nd spin tonight).

AM lines:
Lucic-McLaughlin-Chiasson
Heinen-Merkulov-Steen
Kuntar-Beecher-Lauko
Boqvist-Megna-Toporowski

Lohrei-Carlo
Grzelcyk-Mast
Brunet-Mitchell

Keyser DiPietro
