Uhhhhh. Yeah, me too.Marner is my favorite non-Bruin in the league, so I'm all aboard the hype train at this point.
I have, too. It's for the best, from a mental-health perspective. I mean, there's only so much that a man can take until he just has to realize he's been beaten.I've given up fighting the Forbort battle.
Forgive me if it's been covered but I remember Frisbetarian, I think, talking up Zboril's Providence analytics one September or so ago—then he came up and played really well until suffering a season-ending injury. What's his fate, do we think? as a first-round, lefty PMD, I'm pulling for the guy.7:30 start tonight and it's on TNT.
Marchand - Coyle - DeBrusk
Boqvist - Zacha - Pastrnak
Frederic - Poitras - Geekie
Greer - Beecher - Brown
Grzelyck - McAvoy
Lohrei - Carlo
Forbort - Mitchell
Swayman
Bussi
Probably about as close to the Opening Night lineup as we'll see. At forward JVR for Boqvist and then the 4th line is probably Lucic and Lauko around Beecher. Boqvist, Greer and Heinen are probably all in competition for the last roster spot (13th F).
On D I'm having a hard time handicapping Lohrei's chances. I still think it's more likely than not he starts in Providence. Assuming Lindholm slides in for Lohrei then 5-7 is Forbort, Shattenkirk and Mitchell. Don't know how Lohrei fits in there and the downstream impacts such as waiving Shattenkirk and putting Forbort in the press box. I don't think they'd pull the plug on Shattenkirk after training camp, but we'll see. I've given up fighting the Forbort battle.
I think Zboril's on his way to waivers and then Providence. He had a good camp last year and played well early in the regular season when they were banged up. When they got healthy he basically became a non-factor. He only played 9 games from Thanksgiving to the end of the season, most of which came in late March/early April when they started resting. I don't think it was really anything his fault or anything, he was mostly a victim of circumstance. Once Grzelyck and McAvoy came back they didn't really have many D injuries throughout the year, just Forbort for a couple of stretches. Then they added Orlov which pushed Zboril further down the depth chart. Between the injury and limited use last season he's only played 32 NHL games in 2 seasons which probably isn't fair to him and has set him back.Forgive me if it's been covered but I remember Frisbetarian, I think, talking up Zboril's Providence analytics one September or so ago—then he came up and played really well until suffering a season-ending injury. Thanks for the overview—I hope you're right and he clears waivers, if that's his fate. He seems at the very least to be quality depth. I still remember the day of the three 1st Rd picks and hoping Sweeney had hit it big on at least two of them.He makes over $1 million so I think he clears waivers.
He’s also almost 27 years old. He was drafted 8-years ago. There’s probably not going to develop much beyond where he is now.
That's not helping eitherLoving seeing the team on TV. New unis just don’t have enough color to me, look like black on white,
He said “Lowrider is going to be a big part of our future. Only question is if it’s October 11 or later this year”Did Monty just say Lowrider is going down and then coming back up?
Got that -- which sounds to me like he's going down only to return later -- and I like the "lowrider" nickname. What about Beecher and Poitras -- any agreed upon nicknames for those two? Submissions are open! (mainly because I will misspell Poitras many times over if we don't!)He said “Lowrider is going to be a big part of our future. I interpreted it differently. My take was Lohrei could make the opening night roster.Got that -- which sounds to me like he's going down only to return later -- and I like the "lowrider" nickname. Well all I can say is I hope you are correct. I love all three of these kids.I interpreted it differently. My take was Lohrei could make the opening night roster.
Beecher has earned the 4C spot. He’s done every thing they’ve asked of him.Got that -- which sounds to me like he's going down only to return later -- and I like the "lowrider" nickname. I WILL join you.Beecher has earned the 4C spot. He’s done every thing they’ve asked of him.
if they keep a scrub like Brown over him for that spot. I’ll riot.
I think him getting 9 games is a lock, after that a lot will obviously depend on how he plays in those gamesPoitras has to make the team, no? He’s looked great.
100% agree on this, but like I mentioned in the preseason thread, I could see them sending Beecher down to start and seeing how Poitras does. If he sticks you can dump Brown and bring him up. If he's not ready, you send him back down and bring Beecher up. But yes, either way I hope Brown is not on the rosterBeecher has earned the 4C spot. He’s done every thing they’ve asked of him.

I always looked at Brown as a veteran leadership in the AHL signing. If he ends up in the NHL roster, it meant that none of the kids were ready + injuries.Beecher has earned the 4C spot. He’s done every thing they’ve asked of him.

They are working on defendingPreseason or not, 4 shots halfway through the game?
You still miss 100% of the shots that you don't takeLow shot total but playing in the Rangers end for the most part
They have only had more shots on goal in one of their preseason games.1shot on goal though 95% of the first period. This seems to be an issue so far this pre-season. Low shot count
