I'm having trouble seeing one good game by Denver as enough to elevate them to #2.
But the rest of the league is shit too.

This doesn't exactly pertain to the discussion, but Carolina-GB could be a pivotal game for the 1 seed in the NFC. If Carolina wins it is hard to see them NOT earning HFA, as they would have a two game lead over GB with a H2H win. GB really needs this one but their offense was dogshit vs. Denver. It's not like Carolina's D is chopped liver. Should be fascinating.

It's a travesty that CAR-GB is in the early Sunday schedule slot.  Here are the intra-NFC matchups in the later slots: 4 PM: NYG-TB, ATL-SF; 8 PM PHI-DAL.  Every one of the later games is hardly compelling and has a decent chance of being a blowout. I know NBC wants PHI-DAL because NFC EAST!!! but come on, Dallas is lost until Romo gets back.

Giants are playing at 4 because the Jets are on at 1 and there's no way they are putting the Jets on at 4 against the Den/Indy game.

It's not chopped liver, but if Luck wore them the eff out in the 4th quarter, what is Aaron going to do in a must-win game after a bad game?

I like Cam but they are really offensively challenged if the running game is stuffed, with Olsen the only standout. Carolina's "prevent offense" really filed the Colts' comeback.

As long as their defense can hold up for 60 minutes I like Carolinas chances. If they have a 4Q meltdown like they did against Indy, I'd have to think Rogers would taken advantage even better than Luck did.

I know we discuss the flex options networks hold every year, but the rules have changed and I don't remember.

Here's the latest I found:

In 2006 the NFL implemented a primetime "flexible scheduling" element on Sundays in Weeks 10-15 and in Week 17. In 2014 that was extended so that games between Weeks 5 and 17 could be affected by flex scheduling. However, only two games may be flexed into Sunday Night between Week 5 and 10.
That said, I can understand why NBC wouldn't want to trade a game pitting the 4th (Philly) and 5th (Dallas) largest TV markets in the nation for a game pitting the 22nd (Charlotte) and 35th (Milwaukee, if that's the Packers market).

I grant that Carolina's not a super popular team but GB seems to have a national following.  But, NBC probably has a much better sense than me about which game would draw more eyeballs, since it's integral to their profit margin.

You have to announce the flex 12 days ahead of time. They just announced the Nov 22 flex (Bengals-Cardinals). If NBC wanted Carolina-GB it needed to have done so last Tuesday.
