Thompkins is, but Sudfeld isn't?

Nah, they are both preseason hype machine homer picks. If this were the Sons of Minnie Minoso, those guys wouldn't be picked. But here in Patriotland, they are the #2 & #3 overall selections of the supplemental draft.

At this rate, Donald Jones might be selected.

We have 158 more picks to make and there are only 17 days until the first game of the season and 20 days until the first Sunday, including a bunch of weekends when few picks will get made.  If we take 4-6 hours for every pick on weekdays we are still going to be doing this draft several weeks into the season.  Get your shit together and PM your picks to Proxy if you're not going to be around.

The Seattle Seahawks are not very proud to select former dog-killer, but very good backup QB, Michael Vick.

Not sure if El Cab is still replacing Jnai, so I will PM both.

The Jnai Dolphins continue to assemble the worst QB tandem in the league and select Christian Ponder

(thanks for taking Vick right out from under me, DanoooME)

I would have picked Ponder ahead of at least a few guys who got picked in the real draft. He has had zilch to work with in Minnesota and the concerns about his arm strength are overblown and strongly shaped by impressions formed when his arm was actually hurt at FSU. He doesn't have a strong arm but he has enough to be competitive in the NFL in my opinion.

I'll be honest, Thompkins is a homer pick, but also -- I need a WR.  One of mine is done for the year (Alexander, who I was expecting BIG things out of this season) and the other is AJ Jenkins (who may end up being the biggest first-round bust at WR history (and is well on his way)).  I'm not exactly swimming in wideout talent and Thompkins looks like he could be a real talent.  I'd rather get the guy who everyone is raving about and is apparently developing a great rapport with the best QB of all time than some mediocre veteran.

Looking back on it, I should have just taken him over Barkley in the real draft. Hopefully, Jennings/Patterson/Rudolph is a good enough group of pass catchers that he'll take a step forward this year.

This was a tough selection for me since there are a lot of guys I was looking at but at the end of the day when Melvin Ingram tore his ACL I knew that I'd have to strengthen my DL.  With that said the Chargers select Oliver Vernon, DE.

I will take Breno Giacomini, OT, Seahawks.   I need help at several positions, but Chris Faulk isnt going to play this year, and I would like to be able to at least field a complete offensive line.  Plus, he is from Malden, so that has to count for something.

Hey MMS, can you put the draft order at the top of the thread? I know it's listed elsewhere, but it's way easier (for me at least) to have it listed here so I don't have to check multiple places to figure out whenabouts I'm going to pick.
Missed this before. Its up there now, as well as a link to the spreadsheet.

Guys, I'm not in this thing, and only have a barely passing knowledge of what it is, so I'm wondering if someone has time, they can explain exactly what it is.  From what I gather, it's like the real NFL in that there are 32 teams, and you draft entire squads.  I assume you are playing with full 53 man rosters, like the real thing?

If I have that much right, here are some of my questions:

How do winners and losers get decided?  is there some software that runs the rosters and matchups and spits out the results of the game?  Can you watch the games play out in real time?  Is there a link to these results anywhere, or an old thread?  I'd love to check this shit out.  If there is a site that does it, can I look at it even if I'm not in the league?  For example, if Laddie's team plays MarcSullivan's team, can I go back and look at the play-by-play from that game?

How many years have you been doing it?

Is there a link to the entire rosters of every team?

Is there any money on the line?

Are there are any stat leaders, ie. leading rushers, passers, sacks, etc. that I could look back on for prior seasons?

Anyway, really cool shit.  Wish I knew about it when it started, or maybe I did, but I never would have had the time to commit to it anyway.  Good luck on the season.

I'm surprised you guys are looking for another QB, since Wilson is doing so well in camp.

(I hate that I have to trash talk, but SF121 is apparently laying low since half his offensive line is out of the league. Not that my squad is having the greatest offseason)

2/5ths buddy. Mike Adams only got shot.

And by popular request, I have nothing to say about Gabbert/Wilson.

The answer to almost all of these questions is no.  Do you want to join the waiting list in case one of the current owners quits or dies?

Also, how'd you post this with your entire head up Ozzie Newsome's ass?

We have to ignore injuries for the first season.  These rosters just aren't big enough to absorb them.  Plus it seems like there has been more than average so far.

For Madden, you absolutely have to ignore injuries. My limited knowledge of franchise mode suggests that the roster edits will take long enough without adding injuries to the transactions that have to be performed.

For the owner poll/vote...nah. Shit happens. Luck (not Andrew) matters. Mike Adams got shot, Nick McDonald got cut and Brandon Moore decided he'd rather retire.

Not only luck, but some players are more susceptible to injury due to age / body / usage. I took Bernard Pierce knowing he has a concussion history. I took Ryan Clark knowing he's old. I took Colin Kaepernick knowing he'll take more hits than Peyton Manning. I also took guys like David Harris and Anthony Davis knowing they're durable and reliable. That's part of the game.

It's not the variance that I have a problem with, it's the degree that each injury affects the team.  An injury in this is like 5 times worse than one in the NFL.  You don't have the depth to step up, you can't just IR the player and sign a new one, and the rosters are half the size.

If the answer to almost all of those questions is no, including the one about figuring out who wins and loses, I'm not sure what the point of the exercise is in the first place.

So, umm, no.  I guess.

I think we kind of just have to assume that we get replacement level production in lieu of the injured player.

Sorry guys, I have not been able to follow the last few weeks as some hectic things have come up for me. Is there anyone interested in taking over my team as I'm not sure my schedule going forward will allow me to participate as much as I'd like to? My apologies

In the meantime I can be skipped

Anybody interested? Or know anybody who might be interested?

If there is actually an element of competition, I might be willing to give it a go, but as of now, I have no idea what you guys are doing.  How would someone take over a team when there is apparently no way of knowing who is on your team, or anyone else's team?

I'd be interested, which is why I asked a bunch of questions about it a few posts back, but it doesn't seem like it's, well, anything.  Basically, it sounds like you just draft a team, and then next year, draft more guys and that's it?  I'm still not understanding what this actually is..

We're planning to simulate a season on Madden with the teams we draft. But on some level you're right - it's more about drafting the players and talking about them than about the competition at the end.

If you want to take over BoSoxFink's team, it's all yours.

Go back to the original post here for a brief explanation. As far as competition goes, it looks like we'll have a Madden simulation. That said, I think ideas of other ways to do would always be listened to!

I'd like to do both a season of madden as well as a toral score grade from PFF.

From there we can gave rwo very different sources ro discuss this on.
