It's not in English. I think he was just part of the playoff game broadcast for the game Yoshinobu Yamamoto was pitching in, so the Tweeter jokingly said Yoshida was there to recruit. Which hopefully he actually also was, even if Yamamoto had a rough outing.Thank you, @JM3 but I won't click on Xitter. If you have the time, a sentence or two of whom he's recruiting, etc. would be appreciated.
Same. Won’t click on any Xcretions. Please quote if possibleThank you, @JM3 but I won't click on Xitter. If you have the time, a sentence or two of whom he's recruiting, etc. would be appreciated.
Does the image not show up without clicking? I tend to always quote on the Main Board unless the primary point is the image (which it was here). In the Minor League forum I tend to only quote if the entire message doesn't show up in the image that I can see on here without clicking.Same. Won’t click on any Xcretions. Please quote if possible
Depending on one's browser ad block settings, Xitter embeds may not show at all. Always best to quote them as well.Does the image not show up without clicking? With how fucked X/Twitter has become, I don't think we can trust it to properly embed anymore regardless of people's individual browser or firewall settings. It's hit or miss whether I can view an embedded X post or it just shows up as a link. I never see the "cannot connect to twitter" message shown above. It's also hit or miss whether I can play an embedded video or it directs me to X and demands I log in. Quoting or summarizing the post should be standard around here (pretty sure it's always been expected). This is what I (and I assume other people) see when it comes to Xitter embeds:
So, some kind of summary/quote provided alongside it is very appreciated. Because while I can click on the link and see the tweet, it's nice to know if it actually has information or if it's a joke/shitpost.
Just an FYI check your ad blocker settings as there is usually a setting that blocks all social media plugins (not just twitter, but instagram etc) and will usually show that type of error messageThis is what I (and I assume other people) see when it comes to Xitter embeds:

He's not there explicitly to recruit, which I think would be frowned upon. So while that's just a joke from Milliken, I'm sure he's having some unofficial chats with Yamamoto and whoever else. The tweet itself is not a video and the text of the screenshot is just some basic background about Yoshida himself, so there's not really much info to be gleaned I think, at least from this tweet.Thank you, @JM3 but I won't click on Xitter. I'd say that's actually quite fortunate for any team or fan base interested in signing him.And unfortunately Yamamoto has not pitched well in the postseason. Kershaw-esque. Perhaps he’s running out of gas.
Because he's gonna be cheaper for all the other teams interested in signing him?I'd say that's actually quite fortunate for any team or fan base interested in signing him.
Because it might lower his price a bit for whoever ends up landing him.Because he's gonna be cheaper for all the other teams interested in signing him?
If you saw 5/75 that was likely a reference to Senga’s deal rather than a prediction of what YY will cost. Yamamoto is 5 years younger, and much better than Senga. I think the baseline is somewhere around 8/180 but it won’t be surprising at all if he gets more than 200m total.Has there been any predictions on what he’ll likely be costing? I saw back in July 5/75 but that seems really low now and I’m sure didn’t include any posting cost
Spotrac has him at 5/$85m in their recent article which seems...naive.If you saw 5/75 that was likely a reference to Senga’s deal rather than a prediction of what YY will cost. The posting fee will be roughly 30m but since that doesn’t count towards the AAV or the CBT threshold, it’s largely irrelevant to us.
https://www.spotrac.com/news/predictions-for-spotracs-top-10-mlb-free-agents-2035/YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO (SP, 25, JAPAN)
He’s winning every pitching award possible in Japan, posting ridiculous numbers in 2023 (23 games, 169 Ks, 1.21 ERA) in what is largely believed to be his swan song season there. Every MLB team is in on this one.
PREDICTION: 5 YEARS, $85M, NEW YORK METS
How many years until the 1st optout clause takes effect? If you saw 5/75 that was likely a reference to Senga’s deal rather than a prediction of what YY will cost. Not so sure a team would be willing to give a release clause player an opt out because they would have to pay the posting fee on the full contract regardless of whether the player opts in or not.How many years until the 1st optout clause takes effect?
Good point. I'm wondering what kind of advice he's getting and from who. I know Senga and Yoshida have talked to him plus the foreign players on Orix. It would really suck to sign a 10 year deal and go to a place that he will not like. I know.....money solves a lot of those problems but......Not so sure a team would be willing to give a release clause player an opt out because they would have to pay the posting fee on the full contract regardless of whether the player opts in or not.
He could just sign a higher AAV, less years deal & bet on himself & keep his freedom, while still being set for life.Good point. I'm wondering what kind of advice he's getting and from who.
