The way I look at it, it's not a tear and it's not a broken bone. He's almost certainly out through week 15, so they might as well just sit him the rest of the year. He heals, one less option to hurt our draft order, no further risk of injury this season. Doesn't mean they'll do it--I'm guessing he's healthy by week 17, but hopefully Bill knows better than to play him.

I always thought high ankle sprains were basically season enders even if they happen early. We are in the last quarter of the season and 2-10. Just shut him down.

I am not a doctor.

IIRC, it depends upon the severity. Chandler Jones missed 4-5 weeks with one when he was with the Pats. Not sure it matters here, as the season is lost and so may as well put Rham on IR.

Might as well put him on IR and bring Harris in from the practice squad.

Even if the Pats were contending, a high ankle sprain could be a regular season ender for a RB with only 5 games left

Having just watched my 17 year old son take 9+ weeks to recover from a high ankle sprain I have no idea how anyone could play football this year. Now I recognize that high ankle sprains are all different, but my kid is just now able to do his sport mostly without pain almost 4 months later. He spent at least a month with an ankle noticeably swollen. I absolutely think he would have been better off with just a broken ankle. I had no idea how severe these things were until this happened.

Yeah, put him on IR and tell him to be on time to training camp.

I think we owe @radsoxfan the $10 co-pay that normally goes to DRS.
Haha, much appreciated!

Generally high ankle sprains take longer than low ankle sprains before players can return, though it still depends on the degree of injury. Just going on how it looked and his initial reaction, didn't seem to be "low grade", but don't know for sure.

I would be surprised if he could come back in next 3-4 weeks. At this point they should just tell him to take his place with Judon, Gonzalez, Bourne et al and be done for the year.

Sorry, just learned that DRS offers in-office ancillary services, including advanced imaging, and we'd prefer one-stop shopping. So, as SoSH's official insurer, I'm gonna have to claw that $10 back.

Unless, of course, Rhamondre winds up on IR, in which case I'll send the $10 as personal appreciation.

This is quite fair.... SoSH is better off with an actual ortho leading the way and a musculoskeletal radiologist available for backup/color commentary free of charge anyway.
