Looks like Florida was one of the only teams in the league to hang with the Bruins this year. That's a little annoying as they head to this first round matchup.

FWIW the two wins were Ullmark starts, Swayman had the other two.

The 5-2 Florida win in November was part of a tired couple games where the Bruins (and Swayman) did not look their best. Obviously all the games were before the Hathaway, Orlov and Bertuzzi arrivals.

It’ll suck watching the games in FL with their center ice cam that’s basically at ice level.

Game 1 is Monday and Game 2 is Wednesday per David Pagnotta. Apparently Florida’s arena is booked on Saturday(per Ryan Johnston on 98.5 yesterday) so I’d expect Game 3 on Friday night and Game 4 on Sunday. A possible Game 5 would not be until Wednesday 4/26 due to the Celtics Game 5 scheduled for Tuesday 4/25.

The back of your computer
FLA averaged 3.51 goals per game this season, fifth-best in the NHL (BOS was 2nd). The goal scoring was top-heavy, with Verhaeghe, Tkachuk, Reinhart and Barkov accounting for nearly 50% of FLA's goals (136/288). BOS top 4 also scored 136 goals (Pasta/Bergy/DeBrusk/Marchand), but BOS scored 17 more goals than FLA. FLA gave up 96 more goals than BOS.

FLA's starting goalie is NHL journeyman Alex Lyon. Lyon has 39 career NHL appearances, all in the regular season. BOS faced Lyon once this year, on Jan 28, and lost 4-3 in OT (FLA scored with 1.4 seconds left in the game to tie it up and again in OT to win, both off Swayman). Bobrovsky is currently the backup and hasn't played since March 27.

This was Florida's lineup last night:

Verhaeghe - Barkov - Reinhart
Luostarinen - Lundell - Tkachuk
Lomborg - Staal - Duclair
Cousins - White - Smith

Forsling - Ekblad
Staal - Montour
Mahura - Gudas

Lyon
Bobrovsky

Notable Injuries: Sam Bennett. He has not played since 3/20 with a groin injury. I haven't found much information on where he is in rehab. Top 6 player if he's healthy.

Florida is a high octane offense. They can put the puck in the net. The Verhaeghe - Barkov - Reinhart line is as good as any, plus you have to deal with Tkchuk on the 2nd line, plus they move him up top on occaision with great results. Overall, they rank 3rd in xGF/60 at 5x5. They generate the 2nd most scoring chances at 5x5 and the most high danger chances. They are bit more middle of the pack defensively. They are 20th in xGA/60 at 5x5. They also give up the 6th most high danger chances.

Curious to see how Monty matches things up. I think the Bruins have a definitive depth advantage. Does he deploy the Bergeron line against Barkov and try to neutralize them and then send the Krejci and Coyle lines out with the hope they can feast on the depth of the Panthers? Or does he kind of go in the pattern they've used for a long time hoping the Nosek line can break even against the Barkov line thus allowing the top 3 lines softer matchups?

The Bruins also should have the advantage in net. The Panthers are rolling with Alex Lyon, an AHL journeyman who is in the midst of his longest run of NHL ice time. Bobrovsky hasn't played since 3/27 so I'd imagine Lyon starts game 1, but with a short leash given Bobrovsky's experience.

Juan Luis Guerra is on Saturday if anyone cares

Question. Is there a cheaper-than-fubo way to watch the playoffs? Not necessarily looking for free streams, I’m down for legit options. I had intended to sign up for fubo this weekend but seeing that schedule makes me rethink that.

ESPN plus for first 2 games. Comes with the Disney bundle.

if you can bum a cable login off someone and have Apple TV you can download the TNT app and watch through that.

Or you can get YouTube TV for 2 months. It has tnt, Tbs, and espn.

YTTV also has the local channels, Sling (which is cheaper) does not.

Thanks! YTTV is great but still pretty expensive and I simply never watch the other stuff. I’ll take a look at Sling.

The Bruins seem to play well on good ice. It is too bad that they don't have that at their home rink. I wonder though, how is the ice in Florida's barn? This is too far into the weeds for me to have any sense of this off the top of my head, although a guess would be that a rink in Florida probably is pretty bad?

So… basically there’s no single service that will broadcast these games? TNT would black out bruins games through Fubo (or whatever) if they’re on nesn, right?

From what I've seen of Panthers games, it's pretty awful and it's probably going to 85+ degrees outside for Game 3. This might turn out to be the most frustrating aspect of this series.

So do you 100% need NESN or ESPN+ if you’re in the Boston tv market?
You could always subscribe to NESN360 and hope that NESN doesn’t incorrectly black out the feed. Which has happened multiple times this season to subscribers in NH and ME.

Monty said it was a nagging injury that he has dealt with before. I know he’s had a lot of groin issues in the past, but they termed this one upper body. Shoulder?

It sounds like they didn’t really want him to play that last game in Montreal but kind of relented because it was potentially his last game there and he had a lot of friends and family in attendance.

So these first round games will all be on NESN in addition to those national channels? And if you're in region then those channels would be blacked out on the nationals?

I believe so. I also think I might have a solution for people that cut the cord in the region. I haven't tried this since I haven't cut cable yet, though planning on it after the playoffs, but VPN services let you change your location, so you could show yourself out of market and not get blackout out by NESN. They aren't that expensive, and some I think offer free trials. Surfshark doesn't have a free trial, a single month is $12.95, but sign up for a year it's $3.99 a month, even cheaper ($2.30) if you do the two year deal. This can also do things like change your Netflix libraries based on country, and protects your computer by browsing privately, so I'm probably just going to do the two year when I cut the cord.

I just looked around and expressVPN does have a 30 day free trial

More specifically, if you’re going to go the VPN route, download the CBC Gem app. You can create a free account and stream all the CBC games on any local CBC channel. So if you want your ads to come with a heaping of Newfie, pop on CBC St. John’s

Anyone know a good radio streaming service? I'm going to be in the middle of a long drive for Sunday's game and would like to listen to the game on the radio over my phone (out of market so don't think I could find it on normal FM/AM but maybe I'm wrong).
