Ryan "Puntator" Allen extended for 3 more years

Allen enters his third NFL season, all spent with the Patriots. He would have been a restricted free agent after the 2015 season, and potentially an unrestricted free agent after the 2016 season.
 
The left-footed punter made the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Louisiana Tech in 2013, beating out then-incumbent Zoltan Mesko. He has punted in every game for the Patriots over the last two seasons (32 regular season, five in the playoffs), and also serves as the team's holder on field goals.
 
In the 2014 regular season, Allen ranked 10th in the NFL with a 46.4 average and 12th in net punting (39.9). He lowered his touchbacks from 12 in his rookie season to six last year.

Good for him. There were an embarrassing amount of calls for his release in game threads over the past two seasons. Some even demanding that Mesko be given the job back despite his fizzle in Pittsburgh. Glad to see Allen prove his doubters wrong.
