I've only watched the GIF posted up thread - is the 2nd player you're seeing in that clip? If so, uniform number? If not...link? (I am out of office, and apologize for the request for something I usually have access to).
And having watched Browner, I'll reiterate that IMO he has no chance of making the tackle because he's not fast enough to cover the distance and because his angle is terrible. Both of those things I've seen a lot on film in the past.
But seriously, I'm not going to defend a Ryan. I'm not falling into this trap.
I can't make out his number, but the first defensive player seen in the video goes right for the lead blocker and cuts his legs out from under him. The collision does make the runner change direction, but the defender doesn't even try to bring him down. He just throws himself at the knees of the blocker.
Going to have to disagree with you about Browner. He did take a bad angle, but when the runner slows up and cuts towards Browner, the play is right in front of him. Of course, at this point Browner is ignoring the runner, so instead of making the play he veers right and takes a cheap shot at the trailing blocker.
Anyway, enough of this digression. I'm ready to focus on (and celebrate) the demise of Ryan, even if it's a temporary situation.
