Yep and the Mets really made him work. 7 pitch save.Wonder if Snit will go to Kenley 3 days in a row in the 9th.
They really miss Marte and their two aces look vulnerable all of a sudden. But also ATL's magic number is down to all of a sudden down to 1 for the division and then the Mets are the #4 seed and maybe having to face a road of SD/LAD/ATL/HOU, so their fans are probably correct. Similar to the Yankees, if their key guys are all healthy, then they are in the group with the three super teams but as it is neither is healthy and so they are a notch below.Feels like the vibes around the Mets are pretty bad for a team that may still win 100. All the Mets fans
I know seem resigned to the fact that this probably isn’t the year after all.
Bullpen rested is good but the teams with the byes may have their batters rusty, perhaps? They really miss Marte and their two aces look vulnerable all of a sudden. Also we will see it play out for the first time in the next few weeks but it seems like the teams with the byes will have a huge advantage, their bullpen is fully rested and their rotation lined up just as they want, the advancing team will have to start their #3 or #4 guy in game 1 (depending on if it is a 2 or 3 game series). For that reason I will be very surprised if any team besides HOU/LAD/ATL wins the WS. 538 gives those three a combined 67 percent chance to win the WS, but I would put it much higher.

Yeah, we’ll see, supposedly this has worked both ways in the past when one team has a bunch of days off. I think the Yankees are planning a couple of intrasquad game days, which should actually be pretty intense given all the roster spot options.Bullpen rested is good but the teams with the byes may have their batters rusty, perhaps?
If the wild card team can win one of the first two, you probably see a much bigger odds shift in their favor than in previous years. Which puts some pressure on the bye team.
With where his K rate's gone in the last couple seasons, he'll have to either throw near 200 innings next season or stick around for 2024 if he wants to get there.Zack Greinke made his final start of the season tonight. It will be interesting to see if he retires or not. He will be a free agent and 39. He’s 118 K’s away from 3000, if that’s important to him.
And they did, 3-0, two hits allowed.Renfroe got it started with a homer in the 9th and drove in the winning run in the 10th. The Phillies have the tiebreaker, but they're going to have to close it out on their own against the Astros.
I believe this means the LA Fightin’ Mike Trouts now have the longest playoff droughtAnd they did. All the playoff teams are set.

Max Fried was the scheduled starter for the Braves tomorrow. I assume that he'd have to go if the Mets are still alive. No team would ever actually do this, but the Braves could fuck with the Mets even more by losing today and possibly forcing them to pitch DeGrom in game 162 so he wouldn't be available for the first playoff series. ATL's magic number for the division is won, they have two games left and the Mets have a doubleheader scheduled in rainy NYC today (good luck) and one more tomorrow.
As a Guardians fan, I'd much rather see Tampa Bay (4-2 against them and a blown extra-inning game away from 5-1) than Seattle (1-6).Toronto clinches the 4 seed. Rays control the 6 seed (CLE-NYY route) if they want it by losing out.
I had this same thing earlier this season, but with Ryan Rowland-Smith doing the Mariners. When I first heard him, I was really confused how an Aussie could be so insightful about baseball until I figured out who it was. Here on BT Sport in the UK, the Braves-Marlins game is on right now. The color guy is Australian - I thought at first that it might be a UK-specific broadcast, but then I heard Chip Caray, so it's the Atlanta home broadcast. And it's former Braves reliever Peter Moylan doing the commentary; I had no idea he was involved in any Braves broadcasts, but it's pretty cool to hear a non-American accent on a mainstream American telecast.
They have been squandering all sorts of two on, none out situations all night as well - Marlins have allowed 15 baserunners through 7 innings. The Braves are winning their game but it's only 2-1.
In a year with some insane stats, this one stands out.Verlander throws 5 hitless innings and is done for the night. ERA sits at 1.75.
I stopped betting sports when I was very young (I am not good at doing things casually, all or nothing) but HOU should be big faves to win it all IMO, they should coast through two series while the NL is beating the crap out of each other, and if it's not the Dodgers, they will have home field also. The NL playoffs are going to be crazy
It was extra innings in game one of a double header and Servais didn’t want to further deplete his bullpen since the game two starter wasn’t expected to go too deep, either (the game one starter only pitched three innings). Kind of weird but somewhat defensible in a mostly meaningless game (technically they were playing for seeding, but the chances of their losing the five seed were slim).Missed this keeping an eye on the NL East race, Seattle did not care today and put out their backup catcher to pitch the 10th (trying to tank for the 6 seed?!?). The Tigers suck though so he won the game.
