And it has a non-zero chance of being the top pick.  (but maybe so close to 0 you call it 0?)
SJ was a lottery team this past season and will be relying on an unproven goalie and aging core.
Decent chance they are a lottery team again this season which is even more valuable now that the lottery decides the first 3 picks.

Most importantly we can get back to rooting hard for a team to lose.  It was fun watching TOR lose during the Seguin/Hamilton seasons.

Of course I'll be equally petrified that we spin that pick for a 3rd line grinder at the trade deadline.

As if there weren't enough reasons to root for Jumbo Joe to lose.

So Sweeney ended up with significantly more for 1yr of Lucic than he did Hamilton.
I have no idea what to think about anything NHL related at this point.

If Don had flipped those two deals and gotten this for Hamilton and the Hamilton return for Lucic, then I think the perception of him would be much different.

Except he still signed McQuaid and traded for Rinaldo.

Yup, those deals can't be spun any positive way.  But, the outrage on the Hamilton trade if it was 2 firsts and 2 prospects would have not been there.
I am comfortable saying it would have been based on the "we are close to contention now, you don't trade a young franchise defenseman for picks and prospects," argument.  Especially now that we know what it likely would have cost to sign him.

Why are they saying "a first round draft pick" and not SJ first round draft pick?
Does SJ have the option to give BOS a different 1st rd pick if they end up picking one up, which may happen in the event they sell at the deadline.

How did something positive happen ? The leap second today making Don smarter today? Some 12 yr old on NHL 2015 got crosswired to the Bruins trade computer?

Kuraly may be a nice get too. From Billy Jaffe and Kirk Luedeke earlier. Nice deal all around. I'm ready for the Shark Tank next season.

Following are 2 scout reports on Sean Kuraly 1) "NHL player. Drives the net plays hard and works harder. For sure an NHL player" (cont)

Billy Jaffe ‏@BJaffe 4h4 hours ago
2) "He's a horse . 2 way power guy. Face off guy & pk . Perfect 3rd line & eventually 2nd line guy. Good skill speed great size 6 3" 212lb"

Sean Kuraly is the Miami captain & though NCAA production not thru roof, I like his quickness, creativity. Played with Brian Ferlin in USHL

Now that Jones got 9/3 this is a steal for BOS.
Had SJ gone offer sheet route it would have only been one 2nd and we would have had virtually no shot at matching.
